Partner Power: Multi-Step Inequalities

Objective: Students will solve algebraic proportions containing variable expressions.

Activities-By-Jill

This activity consists of sixteen multi-step inequalities for students

to solve (eight for each partner). These problems will require

students to use the distributive property, combine like terms, and

deal with variables on both sides of an inequality. This activity can be used for practice, as a review, as a math center, or as an assignment choice for differentiating lessons.

An answer key is included.

− 4x−5( )+16x ≥−31 3 −5−x( )+x <−10−x

−7x−11x > 26−x+9x 25−2x ≤5 2−x( )

x−32≥ 32+9x −3x+51>13+7x−22

Solve each inequality, show all work in the space provided, and circle your answer. Then check your answers with those of your partner. If you have each solved the problems correctly, your answers should match (including the inequality symbol). If they do not, work with your partner to find and correct the error.

Objective: Students will solve multi-step inequalities.
