I sure did! I learned so much about culture in Manitoba.
What was the topic?
This week we learned about holidays in Manitoba that occur in the fall.
That does sound interesting. What did you learn?
Well, we focused on Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Remembrance Day
Uh huh …
We learned about the traditions that accompany each of
these days and that some of these days are treated
differently than the others.
Well, people observe Halloween, but Thanksgiving is a statutory holiday.

Is there a difference?
Sure! Many businesses are closed during statutory holidays.
Not so with Halloween, right?
Right. It’s only an observance.
Of all the holidays you learned about, what is your favourite?
I really like Thanksgiving I think.
What’s your favourite thing about it?
Most definitely the food! I love getting together with friends and family …. And I love turkey!
