Dear Friends, Everyone needs access to dental care but as you know,not everyone can afford it. That's why I'm so happy to besharing the below news with you that our Dental Centerhas been awarded some much needed funding and has anew dentist on staff!To keep the momentum going and to help meet thegrowing demands for our sliding scale fee dentalservices, I'm dedicating much of my time this fall toraising awareness and funds to stabilize our dentalprogram. I'll be personally calling on dental centers in thearea to join us in keeping our Community Dental Programaccessible to ALL who need it. We are asking for yourhelp too. Would you consider supporting becoming a‘sustaining’ member of Goodwin Community Health’sDental Program? conduct a program offering prenatal and postnatal oralhealth education and a coordination of child’s first dentalappointment for parents or caregivers of almost 200children, birth to age 5 through the Women, Infant &Children (WIC) clinics in both Strafford and CarrollCounties. This innovative project will providesoftware-based Oral Health Patient Education in a piloteffort to provide specific, directed lessons on dealing withthe prevention of early childhood dental disease. This
training will be provided both in-person and by reaching

Dentrix Enterprise is a powerful,feature-rich management solution for community andpublic health centers designed to save time, money andimprove patient care which also interfaces with thepatient education software recently funded. “We are very pleased to have been selected from amongmore than 90 worthy applicants to receive funding fromthe ADA Foundation’s Samuel Harris Fund, along withthe funding from the , theGive Kids A Smile programNortheast Delta Dental Foundation and the CogswellBenevolent Trust ” says Janet Atkins, Executive Directorof Goodwin Community Health. “New staff andprogramming coupled with funding for better technologymakes a big impact on helping us to keep pace withgrowing needs for access to dental care fordisadvantaged kids and other vulnerable populations inour community.”

Dr. Fredette joined Goodwin'sdental team in September. Hewas born and raised inRochester, NH and loves theSeacoast area. In 2008, hereceived a Bachelor’s ofScience in BiomedicalEngineering from WorcesterPolytechnic Institute. Dr.Fredette earned his DMD fromTufts University School of
Dental Medicine in 2012. Before joining GCH, he spent ayear in Private Practice outside of Boston. He enjoysrunning, cooking, sports and spending time with friendsand family.

Gertrude (Trudy) Trumpy P.A.brings over thirty-five years ofexperience in primary-care andfamily practice to GoodwinCommunity Health. She has aspecial interest in women’s andadolescent health and recentlymoved to New Hampshire fromMaryland. She earned a B.A. inSociology from the University ofMaryland and her Physician’s
Assistant Degree from Albany Medical College-Hudsonvalley Community College.
The Teen Center is Back! Goodwin is relaunching itsTeen Center. The focus ofthese visits will be onmaking health choices,learning how to remainsafe and healthly, and howto prevent pregnancy andsexually transmistedinfections. Teen Center hours are Tuesday's 3-5pm. Goodwin Partners with CAP Fuel Assistance Offered to Eligible PatientsPatients at Goodwin Community Health will be able toapply for fuel and electrical assistance here at our HealthCenter. This program is possible through a partnershipwith Community Action Partnership(CAP) of StraffordCounty. Staff will be on site to meet with applicants andprocess applications every Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.through November 25. To read the full story click here.
