CASTLE ROCK PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Mission: To enhance the quality of life and well-being of the residents of Castle Rock by acquiring and developing parks and trails and preserving open space and offering quality programs and facilities designated to meet the needs of our community.

Vision: As the Town of Castle Rock’s population continues to grow, so does the demand for more parks, recreation programs and facilities, golf opportunities interconnected trails and a need to set aside greater amounts of open space.

To address these challenges, the department will make the public a partner, streamline operations to make them more efficient and service-oriented; maximize the use of alternative funding sources; and place an increased emphasis on seeking opportunities for regional and local cooperation.

TRAIL MAINTENANCE GROUPSThe POST Partners program helps organize two trail maintenance groups called the Ridgeline Wranglers and The Rhyolite Dirt Crew. The Wranglers help the Town maintain Stewart Trail, and the Dirt Crew helps maintain the Bike Park downhill lines, pump track and session zone jumps. Both groups also provide valuable feedback on improvements, rerouting and future development.

The Ridgeline Wranglers meet at the Coachline Trailhead at Ridgeline Open Space on Aug. 15, Sept. 12 and Oct. 10 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Dig and Ride Days. Hang out with the Rhyolite Dirt Crew at the session zone on the third Wednesday and fourth Sunday of each month (August-October).
