www.almosthomekids.org Fall/Winter 2013 1 At home in Chicago, Aiden Quintey is getting ready to crawl! It’s been a long journey to get there for this little bundle of energy. Aiden was born with congenital anomalies and respiratory issues requiring tracheostomy and constant care. When he was just 2½ months old, Aiden was transferred to Almost Home Kids from Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. At AHK, Aiden’s mother Nailah could see that he was starting to become more mobile and adventurous. Nailah was pleased with how quickly Aiden would pick up new skills at AHK. He would learn something new one week and master it the next. This progress was in part thanks to the John R. Houlsby Foundation which provides funding for the child life therapy program at AHK. Nailah was happy to come and visit her baby boy every night at AHK, however she couldn’t wait to get him home. Now 9 months old, Aiden spends his days at home scooting, climbing, and doing forward rolls. The only challenge for Nailah since he’s been home is getting used to those middle-of-the-night feedings that little bundles of energy need to grow big and strong. We’re so proud to be a part of a happy homecoming for Nailah and Aiden. Welcome Home, Aiden! Home News Fall/Winter 2013 IN THIS ISSUE Cover Story 1 Welcome Home, Aiden!
