KIRK IN THE HILLS TOURColonel Edwin S. George gifted his home and estate (Cedarholm) in 1947 to make the Kirk possible. The cornerstone for the church was laid in 1951, the same year Colonel George died. His remains are entombed under the narthex of the Kirk’s sanctuary. In November 1979, owners John and Toni opened their restaurant when a hole was knocked out of the market’s side, giving birth to Genitti’s Hole-In-The-Wall. In 1981, the restaurant was expanded to the building next door. Fall of 1985 brought yet another expansion with the downstairs dining room, bar and gift shop which were later converted to provide additional dining space. In 1992, the business expanded yet again and opened Genitti’s Little Theater just next to the restaurant. We’ll enjoy a lunch and show from this infamous hole-in-the-wall.
