Obituary
1 Corinthians 15:55 – “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
Eldress Lillie M. Ray was born May 10, 1949 to her mother, the late
Alice M. Ray and father, John Elliott. Eldress Ray was a powerful woman of God. She truly loved the Lord and
loved preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Giving God the
glory was what she loved to do. She knew that all of her help came from the
Lord.
Eldress Ray always greeted everyone she met with a beautiful smile and her
sweet spirit. She was loved by her family and so many others and will truly
be missed. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 says, “So we are always confident, knowing
that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we
walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be
absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” She lived her life to
the fullest worshipping and praising our Heavenly Father. Therefore, today
we can celebrate her life doing what she loved best, giving God praise!
Eldress Lillie Ray loved and enjoyed singing with the Rayettes for many
years. Sewing was one of her hobbies. She graduated from W. B. Wicker
High School in May of 1967. In 1996, she preached her initial sermon
entitled, “House Cleaning with Only a Mark”.
Eldress Lillie Mae Ray was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Mae Ray.
Lillie Mae will never be forgotten by: her father, John Elliott; her
sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ray of the home, Shirley R. Lee (Johnny) of
Lillington, NC, and Cinda Wilson of Sanford, NC; brothers: James L. Ray
(Clara) of Indiana, IN, Sammy Ray of Sanford, NC, and Jason McNeill
(Melissa) of Durham, NC; nieces, Michelle Martin (Herman), Bianca and
Punkie; nephews: Brandon Lee, Rahman Ray, and Jawuan McNeill; one
uncle: Pastor Harrison Ray (Pastor Cathy); two aunts: Rutha Ray and
Corneilia Ray. Eldress Lillie Mae leaves many family and friends who will
always love and cherish her life memories and keep them close to their
hearts.
