Take a trip back to 1891 as you visit Castle Coole, the setting for the coming of age party for Amar, Viscount Corry. Enjoy a guided tour of the house by either the footman or maid which is themed around the preparations for the party, and feel the buzz of excitement that is building amongst both the upstairs and downstairs staff as they get ready to welcome gentry from across the country to the home of which they are so proud. The tour concludes in the impressive basement, as it is brought to life by costumed members of the staff who are busily getting ready for the party.

Themed Tours

A Bird Hide has been introduced this season at Crom, to allow visitors to view the spectacular wildlife of this 2,000 acre nature reserve. The Great Crested Glebe, Herons, and the very secretive and colourful Water Rail are amongst some of the beautiful birds which you may be lucky enough to see on the shores of Derrymacrow Lough.

The Scullery at Castle Coole has recently been opened and is located at the top of the Servants Tunnel in the basement of the house. It is a room filled with lots of fun activities and challenges for kids to enjoy, and also to learn a bit more about what would have happened in the basement when there were a whole army of servants working there.

Florence Court

The 3rd Earl of Enniskillen was a keen geologist with a particular interest in collecting fossils. The Rock Hound room is the newest addition to Florence Court, a place where families can have a go at a whole range of fun activities based around the 3rd Earls collection.

There is more fun for the family as they have the opportunity to take a tour especially designed for children. The tour is based around ‘The Breeching of Young Arthur’, which is the time when little boys start wearing trousers instead of dresses. Young Arthur’s nanny will show you around the house, and children will be able to play with some of Arthur’s toys and help out in the kitchen with the preparation of his birthday cake.
