Where originally did they come from?

• My mother, Sascha Camargo was born in Monterey Park, California

• However, she was raised in El Monte, California

Where originally did they come from?

• My father, Juan Oliva I believe was born in Tijuana Mexico

• I know for a fact he lived there before coming to the U.S.

• He and his family then came to California and settled in El Monte, California

Where originally did they come from?

• I’m not sure where my grandparents from my mom’s side came from• I believe my grandparents from my dad’s side also were born in Tijuana, Mexico

Why did they come to the U.S.?• For my grandparents on my dad’s side I can only imagine they came to the United States for a better future for their family.

• Opportunities• Better job• Better education• Safer environment to raise a family in

Where did they first come to?• My grandparents on my mom’s side I’m not sure where they were born and where they first lived in the United States.

• My grandparents from my dad’s side, like mentioned before, first came to El Monte, California. At least, I believe so.

Where have they moved since?• My grandparents from my mom’s side, at least to my knowledge, after being raised in El Monte, California have then moved to Hesperia, California after my grandpa remarried.

• However, my mom stood behind and lived with her grandmother in El Monte.

Where have they moved since?

• My grandparents from my dad’s side have stayed in El Monte, California since they arrived to the United States

• My dad has moved out on his own to various cities in between moving several times.

Why they have moved since arriving?

• My grandparents on my mom’s side have moved from El Monte, California to Hesperia, California because the houses out there were a lot cheaper to own.

What part of the waves of immigration is my family from?

• My grandparents from my mom’s side I’m not sure where they originally were born so not sure which wave of immigration they would fall under.

• My grandparents from my dad’s side would fall under the fourth waves of immigration. 1918 – present: Latin America including Mexico.

What do I think of all this?• I think I could be wrong about the specific city my dad/grandparents were born in but I do know they are from Mexico.

• I am curious to find out where my grandparents on my mom’s side are from.

• I know that my mom’s biological father is part Native American. So I’m excited to learn about where he is from.
