Incentives Legislation
is one key part of the puzzle
… to make Singapore the best place for families
Family Services
MSF works in partnership with the community to create a pro-family environment through:
– instilling positive values and shaping mindset towards family, marriage and parenthood
– informing, educating, empowering individuals through their life journey to form and build strong families
The School Family Education (SFE) journey started 10 years ago …
We wanted to make family life education
programmes and resources easily
accessible to parents,
students and staff in schools
i. Equip parents with the skills and knowledge to:
• Enrich and strengthen their family life; and
• Foster better parent-child understanding and relationship
ii. Equip students with:
• Life Skills;
• Skills to build healthy relationships with their peers and family; and
• Positive values and attitudes towards family, relationships and life in general

Moving forward …
Parents, Students & Staff
Quality programmes, engaging content
Trainers should be engaging, objective, knowledgeable and have own experiences to share
More in-depth programmes, with focus on
specific issues
Tailored programmes – Less
rehashing of topics/content
More hands-on activities in addition to sit down lectures/talks
Schools
Wider choices, quality programmes
Want a better variety of
programmes
Important for programmes to attract families,
especially the unconverted
Quality programmes and
trainers
More funding support
Service Providers
Funding is a key concern
Insufficient funding quantum to cover the cost of organizing FLE programmes Line item funding
too restrictive
Funding does not take into account family interactive
elements
Admin cost of implementing school-based and workplace
based programmes not covered
… an umbrella movement to give a greater push to family life education and promotion efforts within the family, in school, in the community and at work.
