First, we would like to express our appreciation to Danny and Wanda for their years of service and pray that the Lord would bless them in this new chapter of their lives. As they begin a new chapter, so does our family here at First Christian Church. This congrega- tion has a rich history as part of the Adairsville community. God has great things in store for our congregation. He reminds us in Jeramiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Our job is to be patient in prayer and attentive to His will. God has a plan. How long does it take to grow a fish? A big one? A really BIG one? In the book of Jonah, we read God “prepared” a great fish to save the life of Jonah. The wayward proph- et found himself being thrown overboard in the midst of a terri- ble storm. Had the fish not swal- lowed Jonah, he would most likely drown. Instead the fish swallowed Jonah whole and Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days. Then Jonah was delivered up on dry land as “fish vomit” – eewww. God “prepared” a great fish. Let us think about this for a moment. Does that mean that God spoke the fish into existence as a full grown, Jonah-swallowing crea- ture? Or did He start many years before with just a minnow? He could have spoken the great fish into existence just like the days of creation where birds, fishes and animals were created. Or He could have started with a really hungry minnow. The preparations of God are unique. God has always prepared His servants in ways that defy our Family News Adairsville Christian Church WHERE EVERYBODY IS SOMEBODY AND JESUS CHRIST IS EVERYTHING! 2016 JUNE human wisdom. A giant slayer was prepared in the field watching sheep; a queen who saved her people was prepared by winning a beauty contest; and a prime min- ister was prepared by being a con- vict. So it is today. God prepares us for His plans. God has been preparing the family here for the next chapter in this community. God has been preparing our next minister in similar fashion as well as preparing our congregation to greet him. We have not met him yet, but God has spent a lifetime preparing a next minister. God plans for our new minister to prosper and not fail; to have a hope and future. God plans for our congregation to prosper and not fail; to have a hope and a fu- ture. The challenge will be for us to ex- ercise our faith and trust the Lord’s guidance. We ask that each member of our family devote themselves to prayer – asking for patience and wisdom. Specifically pray for our leadership during this time of transition. While we are waiting for the one God has pre- pared to arrive, let us dedicate ourselves to encouraging each other through love, having a gen- erous spirit and attending faith- fully. Let us work just as if Jesus Him- self is coming – and He is; all the more reason for our diligent ser- vice. On behalf of the elders, Ron Marks

First, we would like to express our appreciation to Danny and Wanda for their years of service and pray that the Lord would bless them in this new chapter of their lives.

As they begin a new chapter, so does our family here at First Christian Church. This congrega-tion has a rich history as part of the Adairsville community.

The wayward proph-et found himself being thrown overboard in the midst of a terri-ble storm. Had the fish not swal-lowed Jonah, he would most likely drown. Instead the fish swallowed Jonah whole and Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days. Then Jonah was delivered up on dry land as “fish vomit” – eewww.

God “prepared” a great fish. Let us think about this for a moment. Does that mean that God spoke the fish into existence as a full grown, Jonah-swallowing crea-ture? Or did He start many years before with just a minnow? He could have spoken the great fish into existence just like the days of creation where birds, fishes and animals were created. Or He could have started with a really hungry minnow.

The preparations of God are unique. God has always prepared His servants in ways that defy our

2016 JUNE human wisdom. A giant slayer

was prepared in the field watching sheep; a queen who saved her people was prepared by winning a beauty contest; and a prime min-ister was prepared by being a con-vict.

God plans for our congregation to prosper and not fail; to have a hope and a fu-ture.

The challenge will be for us to ex-ercise our faith and trust the Lord’s guidance. We ask that each member of our family devote themselves to prayer – asking for patience and wisdom. Specifically pray for our leadership during this time of transition. While we are waiting for the one God has pre-pared to arrive, let us dedicate ourselves to encouraging each other through love, having a gen-erous spirit and attending faith-fully.

Let us work just as if Jesus Him-self is coming – and He is; all the more reason for our diligent ser-vice.
