ECC Recreation Club (ECCRC), HQ, Chennai, has beenorganising blood donation camps once a year during May– when the need for blood gets very high and stocks ofdonor blood get to low levels.

Over the last two years, hundreds of ECC HQ staff andstudents from CSTI have generously come forward anddonated blood to Red Cross for a cause (while it was 401units the year before, this year we had over 420 units ascollection during the camp). This has in turn enabled ourown staff benefitting from instant units of blood urgentlybeing made available at the most critical hours of need byRed Cross, to save lives of our own relatives and friends.

Our act has won the appreciation of Red Cross as L&T-ECC has emerged the largest Corporate Blood Donor lastyear.

Appreciating this, at an event marking the NationalVoluntary Blood Donation Day, the Indian Red CrossSociety (TN) presented a Rolling Trophy for 2008 to L&T–ECC. The Rolling Trophy was presented by Shri SurjitSingh Barnala, His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Indian Red CrossSociety TN.

Largest Corporate Blood Donor Award for L&T-ECC

While this would surely act as a shot-in-the-arm for L&T-ECC, let this also encourage us to aim to achieve the ‘four-digits contribution’ as units of blood to be donated in ournext camp that would be planned by the Club.
