Built in 1923, the HOLLYWOOD sign wasoriginally spelled out as HOLLYWOODLAND, and was intended asa business signage to advertise HarryChandler’s real estate. It was onlty until1949 when the Hollywood’s Chamber OfCommerce dropped the last four letters, L-A-N-D.
Known to be “The housethat Nat built”, CapitolRecords has a total heightof 67 meters (220 ft), andonly has 13 floors inaccordance to the heightlimit of buildings during thetime it was built.
The pinnacle’s rhythmic light is actually aMorse code, which spells out the word,“HOLLYWOOD”.
