Hall Effect Monitor

Selected ebm blowers ordered with thisoption monitor the speed of the blower witha device consisting of a magnet and solidstate switch built into the motor. The outputsignal is a low voltage DC pulse train thatcan be incorporated into the end product totrigger an audible or visual alarm or toinitiate an orderly system shutdown. Thisdevice is suited for telecommunications,computer, peripheral and copier applica-tions, or others as required.

Speed Sensor Type: S, /2, /12These fans produce speed-proportionalsquare-wave signals via an integratedsensor. This 'electronic' tachometer isused to monitor the fan speed.

Alarm Signal Type: /10These fans produce a continuous signaloutput when operating interference-free.When fan speed falls below 75 - 85% of thenominal speed, short low impulses aregenerated. The greater the fall below thealarm speed, the greater the low impulsewidth becomes. At rest there is a continuouslow signal.

Alarm Switching Signal Type: /5, /17These fans produce speed-dependent,directly usable high/low square-wave signalsvia integrated alarm switching circuits./5 models: Switching circuit is galvanicallyseparated with a separate current supply./17: Direct current supply via motor; the switchingcircuit is not separate.

HOW TO USE CAPACITORS FOR MULTI-SPEED BLOWERSIt is possible to make any ebm blower with a PSC motor a multi-speed blower by adding a second or third capacitor on the load line(blue) at or near the value of the motor run capacitor. Actual capacitorvalue and RPM achieved are dependent on the nature of eachapplication.
