The concept behind this townhouse design is “Earthquake aftermath in Japan”. Earthquakes occur mult iple t imes in Japan so this modern Japanese style house incorporate the feel of an apocalypse. The original f loorplan of the house wi l l be drastical ly shifted and twisted from its original or ientat ion. Inter ior wal ls would be broken up in pieces with large gaps in between. guests would feel a bit disoriented as they enter the house because of how al l the wal ls go diagonal ly into the perimeter wal ls.

The design concept of this skate shop is going to emulate the feel ing of a skate park and skate spots that the skaters have created for themselves in abandoned empty spots in the city. The key in this design to de-clutter as much as possible op-posed to typical board shops such as Ti l ly ’s and pacsun and to display more high end merchandise. In the store there are half and quarter pipes, skate boxes, stairs with worn down rai ls and ramps; al l the elements that can be found at skate parks and spots to get the feel of an actual skate park and skate spot.

The goal for the design of the Distr ict headquarters is for employees to come to off ice feel ing free and independant l ike skateboarders and not be confined in a their cubicle al l day long. The environment of the off ice wi l l evoke a feel ing that people are in an actual skate park or spot: skater ’s paradise. I t wi l l have a gritty rebel l ious look to it.

minamoTo Kichoan jaPaneSe SweeTSJapanese sweets also known as Minamoto kitchoan is located r ight on Market st, on the edge of the f inancial distr ict in down-town san francisco. The proposal for this retai l store is to re-design it to increase customer activ ity and sales. The concept is to have a place for tourists and people who work in downtown to have a get-a-way from the fast paced l i fe in the city. In order to keep customers in the store a bit longer, seats and tables to drink tea and sweets sampling would be integrated with the sales area. customers would be able to sit at the counter and r ight in front of them choose what they would l ike to try. Every sides of the space would be used to improve on circulat ion. The store would be more modernized and fresh to attract al l types of customers.

The design concept of the l ibrary is based on leaves of trees. The roof top is l ike the leaves on top of the trees. I t attracts students and staff to come to the top of the l ibrary l ike how the tree leaves absorbs the sun rays and water for energy. The l ibrary is al l about harvesting sunrays to keep the l ibrary function-ing by using it ’s own resources. open access for students and faculty to the rooftop garden wi l l assist in rel ieving of feel ing clus-tered or overwhelmed by crowded-ness of the city. The curved glass of the atr ium maximizes natural l ight ing for the inter iors of the l ibrary.
