LOW ENERGY DC MOTORThe expansion of our low energy motor

range demonstrates our commitment to

developing ef ficient, effective fans. Our

DC motor fans take your household

power supply and convert this to a lowvoltage supply for the windings, thereby

consuming 60% less electricity than a

traditional AC motor.

The high-ef ficiency ‘Brushless’ DC

(BLDC) motor has permanent magnets

which respond to the varying DC signals

from the control system that in turn

generate the motion required of a fan.

This means lower heat dissipation,

quieter operation and lower magnetic

interference. A greater degree of speed

control can be applied to DC motors

and the therefore our low energy models

offer 6 forward and 6 reverse speeds;

twice that of a normal fan.

We consider care for the environment to

be one of our key responsibilities and an

mportant part of the way in which we dobusiness. Protection of the environment

n which we live and operate is integral to

antasias values and principles.

We are energy consc ious when looking

for new product and for 2012 we have

expanded our DC motor range, which

uses 60% less power consumption than

a standard fan. We have also introduced

our first low energy LED fan light and will

be expanding this element of our range in

the future.

Fantasia ceiling fans are better for the

env ronment t an ot er ar coo ng systems.

Running costs are less than running a 100w

ight bulb for the same period. The winter

setting on our ceiling fans re-circulates

warm ar trappe at ce ng eve , e mnatng

cold spots and draughts and distributing

room heat without creating a draft. Used

correctly, a fan can save as much as 10% on

energy s ur ng w nter mont s.

Our brochure is printed on FSC Certified

s toc , w c ensures t a t t e paper

comes only from well managed forests,by an ISO 14001 accredited printer using

vegetable based inks. All our of fice paper

s 100% recycled and our cardboard

boxes are made of 60% recycled material.

We strive to protec t the environment

y m t ng our contr uton to po uton

of land, air and water, seeking to keep

wastage to a minimum and maximising our

ef ficient use of materials and resources.

When choosing a ceilin g fan it is impor tant to remember that it is more

relaxing and ef ficient to run a larger fan on a slower speed than a smaller fan

on a high speed.

Fantasia Fans range in size from 36"/914mm to 56"/1420mm in diameter

to suit any ins tallation.We do not recommend the use of a 36" fan in a

conservatory, as it would not be suf ficient to affect the build up of heat that a

conservatory creates. A conservatory installation may require a drop rod and

conversion kit. A drop rod and conversion kit can be ordered separately forflush mounted fans.

The guide below suggests the fan size most appropriate for the installation.

The size guide is based on rooms with ceilings of 8’2" (2.5m). For rooms

with higher ceilings a drop rod should be used to drop the fan down to

8’2" (2.5m) above the floor. Should the room have abnormal heat conditions

go to the next fan size up in relation to the information in the above

size guide.

FAN BLADES

Fantasia fan blades are available in many different finishes. They can be

swapped within each range. Often there is a different finish on the reverse

side of the blade. The blade can be attached either way up to compliment

different interiors.

CONVERSION KITS

Flush mounted fans can be converted to drop mount by using

a conversion kit and drop rod. Dual mount fans do not require

conversion kits, and are supplied with a shor t drop rod. Longer rods are

available. Please check rod diameter required when ordering.

WIRING

Fantasia Fans run from standard lighting wiring (two core and ear th). If you

wish to install a double wall control then three core and earth wiring

is required.

INSTALLATION

We recommend inst allation is car ried out in accordance with Nati onal

Electrical Codes. The fixing point for the ceiling fan must be strong enough

to hold 10 times the fan’s st ationar y weight. Minimum recommended ceiling

height for fan installation is 8’2"/2.5m. Ensure there is at least 8"/200mm

between the fan blade and any obstruction. See our measuring up

guide on P53.

REMOTE CONTROL

This is a popular way of controlling our ceiling fans and lights. The remote

control consists of a handset and receiver and can be installed in any of our

fans. You can fi t the remote control after the f an has been ins talled. The

remote control cannot be used in conjunction with a wall control, however,

an on/off wall switch is recommended.

TECHNICAL

Fantasia fans can be operated in summer for a cooling effect and reversed in

winter to re-circulate warm air trapped at ceiling level.

Fantasia fan motors are of silicon steel construction with double sealed

bearings, ensuring long, quiet, reliable and maintenance-free operation.

Fantasia motor housings are of metal or ABS construction. All metal sur faces

are powder coated or plated and lacquered to give a permanent seal and

prevent tarnishing.

All models operate on 220–240 volt 50– 60htz electricity supply. The power

ratings of our standard fan motors r ange from 60–75watts with 3 forward

and 3 reverse speeds. Our Low Energy fan motors (found in the Elite range)

use approximately 6 watts on low speed and 35 watts on high speed.

Additionally these fans have 6 speeds in forward and 6 in reverse as well as a

remote controlled reverse function.

Installing a Fantasia fan is similar to installing a light fi tting bu t you must

ensure that the fan blade tips are at least 8" (200mm) from any obstruc tion

such as a sloping roof or beam. Blades should be mounted at least 7ft 6"

(2.3m) from the floor.

Ceiling fans can be installed in any room, except bathrooms. In

conservatories or rooms with higher ceilings a drop rod and conversion

kit may be required (see page 48 for more information). Wall controls and

remote controls are also available.

DC MOTORS

We are energy conscious when looking for new product and for 2012 we have

expanded our DC motor range, which uses 60% less power consumption than

a standard fan. We have also included a low energy LED fan light and intend to

expand this element of our range in the future.

Note that wall controls cannot be used with low energy DC motors.

A. Fantasia fans can be more expensive than others on

the market bu t this can be explai ned by their many

superior qualities. The silicon steel motors are larger,

meaning more air movement, and have double sealed

bearings to ensure durability and quiet operation.

All metal finishes are double lacquered to eliminate

tarnis hing and all fan motor s are suppli ed with a

5–15 year warranty, depending on the range.

Q. Do ceiling fans require any special wiring andare they dif ficult to fit?

A. A fan with or without lights can be wired into an

existing lighting circuit and is a simple DIY job. If you

are in any doubt then consult a qualified electrician.

Q. Are fans noisy and do they wobble?

A. Some competitor s’ fans are noisy and wobble because

they are made from lower quality materials . Fantasia

fans run quietly and, even when fi tted with a dr op rod,

are very stable.

Q. How is the speed of the fan controlled?

A. Fantasia fans have either a remote control, wall control

or an integral pull switch to operate the forward and

reverse speeds. If a fan does not have a pull cord then

it will be supplied complete with a remote control

as specified. All our pull cord operated fans can be

upgraded to either a wall control or a remote control.

Q. Can fans be operated from a wall control?

A. Fantasia fans can be operated by either a single wall

control or, if the fan has a light, a double wall control/

dimmer. A standard dimmer switch cannot be used toadjust fan speeds. Note that wall controls cannot be

used on DC motors.

Q. What is the wattage of a fan motor?

A. The power rating of our fan motors ranges from

30 watts (DC motors) to 75 watts. The average fan

motor is 65 watts. Generally speaking, the larger the

fan the higher the motor wattage.

A. Fantasia fans run off the standard lighting circuit

(5 amp) and are very economical to run, costing

approximately 5p for 8 hours at high speed – less than

a 100w light bulb. The winter setting on our fans re-

circulates warm air trapped at ceiling level, eliminating

cold spots and draughts and distributing room heat

without creating a cooling draft. Used correctly, a fan

can save as much as 10% on energy bills during winter

months.

Q. What is the minimum mounting height fora fan?

A. The British Standards Institute recommends that the

blades should be no less than 7ft 6" from the floor.

Q. How do I work out the length of droprod required when fitting the fan into aconservatory or high ceiling?

A. The drop rod length is determined by the ceiling

height. The optimum height from the floor to the

blade is between 7ft6" and 9ft and flush mounted fans

will require a conversion kit to fi t a drop rod.

Q. Can fans be installed on a sloping ceiling?

A. Fans can be instal led up to an angle of 35° (20° if a

remote control is fi tted). A min imum of 8" mus t be

allowed between the tip of the blade and the slope of

the ceiling, or any othe r obstr uction.

Q. Does the fan require any maintenanceor cleaning?

A. All Fantasia fans have permanently sealed bearings,

double lacquered surfaces and do not requiremaintenance. An occasional light dusting with a soft

cloth is all that is required although it is suggested that

all fixings/screws are tightened annually. Do not use

liquids or polishers on any part of your ceiling fan as

this may cause damage.
