Region 1 Directors
Welcome to the first edition of the Region 1 Quarterly Newsletter. It is being designed to keep the Region 1 “State Directors” informed as to what is happening or not happening in the Region. In addition to us putting out information, we welcome Region 1 State Directors and State Program Directors to submit information that they feel may be of interest to other states in the Region. Chapters may submit articles if they do not have a State Newsletter. Articles may also be submitted from any chapter in the Region if it is
about member(s) or chapter(s) that have participated in a special function or performed a “Good Deed”. Send us any other ideas of what you would like to see in future newsletters.
Jeff & Shirley Kendle Region 1 Director
In the past the Campvention Team has sub-rented golf carts for use during Campvention. Starting with the 2021 Campvention, FCRV will no longer be the middle person for golf cart rentals. Members wishing to rent a golf cart must contact the company and make their own arrangements. The point of contact for the 2021 Campvention in Wisconsin is:
Brown’s Service Wisconsin Golf, Inc. 459 Madison Street
Walworth, WI 53184 Phone 262-394-5505
Email: [email protected]
If you wish, you may have your golf cart delivered to the grounds the same time the carts that FCRV requests are to be delivered. Issues you have with the golf cart will be directed to the golf cart rental company yourself.

2022 Campvention Update
We would like to thank members that have volunteered so far to help with the 2022 Campvention. We still have not locked in a site yet. We were hoping to hold the 2022 Campvention in Douglas, Wyoming, however; that does not look like it will be possible. We are now looking into other alternatives, the first one being the Colorado State Fairgrounds located in Pueblo, CO. We are currently waiting for a proposal from the fairgrounds. If you have not volunteered yet to help with the 2022 Campvention, we would like you to seriously think about volunteering to help. We not only need members to volunteer to be the chair or co-chair for an activity, we will also need members to help once Campvention takes place in areas such as Registration, Security, Transportation, Youth Center, Teen Center, and the Adult Center. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the majority of meetings will be held utilizing Zoom; therefore, you can attend the meeting no matter where you are located. When you volunteer at Campvention, you have an opportunity to not only meet members from Region 1 but also from all over the United States and Canada. Just ask anyone that has attended a Campvention and they will tell you about all of the friendships they have developed. According to a recent FCRV survey 60% of members attend Campvention to see friends. The 2022 Campvention will be different than in the past, as we will be using the reduced format which has made a number of activities optional such as handing out welcome bags and having a parade. It is the discretion of the Region to make the decision if they will include these optional activities at Campvention. We have chosen to eliminate a number of these activities to make the Campvention easier for Region 1 members that volunteer. We also want Region 1 members to enjoy and have fun at Campvention just like everyone else. We are asking the State Directors, Field Directors, and Field Staff to approach their members and chapters and ask them to consider volunteering. We need your help. Once again, we, Jeff and Shirley Kendle and Carter and Ann Bloomfield, appreciate and thank the following members that have already volunteered.

Salute to mary ann merritt
Rv rascals
A big salute to MARY ANN MERRITT, a member of the RV Rascals located in Colorado. Mary Ann volunteered to help with the Ft. Lupton “Field of Honor® 2020” event held November 7-14. The event, which focused on honoring veterans who have served our nation at home and abroad, law enforcement officers, Fire & EMS, and frontline workers who have similarly earned our gratitude for their service and sacrifice, was highlighted by the display of 1,000 United States flags posted at a Fort Lupton park. Each flag was sponsored by a donation and was a personalized tribute to the life or memory of an honoree. The field was guarded in shifts 24/7 by volunteers. Mary Ann worked three four-hour shifts during the week, including one night during a snowstorm. Shortly after the “Field of Honor®” closing ceremony, the Fort Lupton Fire Department graciously
conducted a drive-by “Thank You and Happy Birthday” Parade past the Merritt home to honor
Mary Ann’s father, Milford (Bud) Rasmussen, a WWII veteran who celebrated his 101st birthday on
Sunday, November 15th. The parade consisted of a fire engine, several ambulances, several cars of
family and friends, and a 2nd fire engine at the end……. all with sirens going, lights flashing, horns
honking, people calling out good wishes, and flags waving.
What a wonderful, emotional experience!

Utah
conservation project
Yellow Pine Campground is located in Ashley National
Forest, Utah.
In August 2020, Utah members began a conservation project at Yellow Pine Campground.
They worked with the National Forest Service and helped to
build about a quarter mile of fence to keep free range cattle
out of the campground. Everyone was asked to wear a
mask, keep social distances, and not attend if sick. Pot
lucks and community meals were not condoned.
In general, it went pretty well...although Utah has quite a
few anti-maskers and there were several that still believed
that COVID is a conspiracy and they were not happy with the restrictions. I am including a picture of us working on that project.
In the picture below, the gentleman in the foreground with the purple shirt and blue jean shorts leaning on the fence post had just
lost his spouse. The person he is talking to across the fence, with his back to us, had also just lost his. The fact that they attended
this function lends me hope that even with some of our losses our membership will not dwindle too much.
