MU was established by the Nepalese Parliament Act on June 17, 2010 under the concept of multi-university concept.

NEPAL AGRICULTURE and FORESTRY UNIVERSITY

NAFU has been established as a result

of a bill enacted by Nepalese Parliament on June, 2010 at Rampur,

Chitwan.

FAR-WESTERN UNIVERSITYFU was established by the Parliament of Nepal on 3rd Ashad, 2067 BS. to be funded fully by the government.

Act states to establish and run the university merging two local campuses.

It took a year more for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Jai Raj Awasthi, (TU) was appointed on 23rd Shrawan of 2068.

Just after few months later FU recieved 5 bigas and 7 bigas land by District Nagar Bikas Samiti.
