“Turning Time Fall 2012 Collection”

Our designer is Vivienne Westwood and one of her symbols is a clock with “worlds end” on it. This then reminded us of the

movie Hugo that was released in 2011 and became really inspired by the story. The target audience we are trying to reach are women the ages between 18 - 30. The goal of the show is to

interpret this wonderful movie through the collection, background setting,and music.Vivienne Westwood supports many charities and foundations; so ticket proceeds will go towards Children of Today. We want to create the same ambiance as the movie Hugo. So there are a lot of furniture that looks vintage and have clock gears. With the setting being the 1930’s, we still want to incorporate the grunginess Vivienne Westwood’s

brand is known for.

1930s inspired. These garments tie back to the movie, since it was set in that era. The main colors are brown, black, grey, and white. In the movie there was a lot of blue, yellow, gold, red and green. That plays well from the very beginning and the end of the show; thats when all those colors are shown the most. It’s a great mix between masculine & feminine wear. From the

start everything is flowing together. The collection is all

woman with skirts and dresses with A-line silhouettes. Towards the end

garments are more crisp and tailored; incorporating the

masculinity into the show. We end in the show with a mustard/ gold

dress. It is very simple but still a surprise because we go back to the more feminine look. We are letting students from SAIC &

Columbia College volunteer to be dressers. Each school department

chair will receive an email.

Our inspiration for the make-up came from a local make-up artist, Kat Sterrett. We chose the same artist to do the hair

for the models too. We want our make-up to be very dark, bronze with a little blush pink eye makeup with neutral lips. Kat will be using only MAC make-up products. The hair will vary for each

model; some will have updo’s, frizzy, messy curls, teased straight hair. Also, watches and hats will be incorporated in a

few of the looks to go with the Vivienne Westwood theme.

The location we chose was Millennium Park: North Chase Promenade. This is a main venue during all Fashion Focus shows. The venue comes with a production team and catering. The Chase Promenade is at 201 E. Randolph Chicago, IL, 60601; downtown

Chicago. It’s close to CTA transportation and many car garages. This venue can hold up to 1,500 people. At night the park is lit up and it’s located by the lake. The mood matches the setting we

created inside our venue.

Music Playlist

There will be a lot of music in our show. The songs we chose have some dark twisted in them. Vivienne Westwood is one of the few designers that played a huge part in the grunge scene. These are songs from the 90’s and early

2000’s covered by famous orchestra bands. Gives that old time eerie feeling. There are a few songs that were

released recently that are covered. This is a fashion show so music without words are perfect. Leaves to the

imagination and if you know the songs you can sing them in your head. Since we are doing this by disk we won’t need a DJ. However there will be a sound engineer at the fashion show assisting us in the production booth. This is a short playlist of songs that will be played at the cocktail hour,

fashion show, and the online presentation:

Lighting

Millennium Park has their own production team. In the Venue package we picked it included security, custodial, union electrician, union engineer, site

coordinator, and production assistant. The only lighting there is in the fashion runway room are the ones above the runway. There are two rows of lights facing inward; toward the models. There are 4 speakers; two on each of the runway on the ceiling of the tent. The team also handles all the chairs, which Millennium Park provides. They will also install the giant clock and put down the runway decal for the fashion show. Since there are only 2 rows of lights above the runway, this darkens the rest of the room. The lights will be little bit more dim, to set the vintage feeling.

Cocktail Hour In the front of the Promenade, where everyone will enter, will be the space for the cocktail hour. There’s a bar in the center of the floor. On the left & right side of the room there will be 2 main lounge areas with 4 cocktail

tables. Around the room there will be 3 bar tables set up around the room. The bar in the center is Millennium Park owned and we cant change it. There are 6 lights on the ceiling; 3 facing the bar and 3 facing each side of the

room. There are only 2 speakers in this room that will be playing music from the production booth. There will be a full bar and little food bites. Millennium Park provides

the catering and a menu to choose from.

Runway For our runway we chose to have a brick detail to it to match the old time 1930’s look. The left there’s a picture of a man cutting out the brick board. This is what we will have done to our runway, which the production team is putting down. This will be glued down to the runway. These pieces are found at Home Depot along with brick wall decal. Which was another option we were considering as well. Since we are using this on our stage, the lighting might not bounce off the runway onto the model; like a clean white runway would.

Clocks play a huge part in our fashion show. At the start of the runway there will be a huge clock. It will still

have ‘Worlds End’ on it in the center. Also in the center of the clock under the hands will be the exposed clock gears. Few jewelry pieces are made of clock gears and wanted the big clock to show them as well. This will be a working clock during the show. The hands will be moving, which will show the

gears at work like in the movie Hugo.The

production team will set the clock on stage. Electric Time Company,INC will be making the clock, they make clocks for buildings and such. This clock will then be hung on the

store in London.

There are many ways we were thinking of advertising our fashion show. This will be a huge event. This will the first time a high fashion designer will be presenting their ready to wear collection in Chicago before anywhere else, thats the buzz we will feed off on. So we want everyone to be excited about that, this show would be the start of something new. Putting Chicago on the map in the fashion industry: 1. Many designers have been presenting their fashion shows

online. Vivienne Westwood host their own Youtube account so this show will be streaming online. In order to see the show you must get the password code before the night of the fashion show. Online tickets will be sold at $10.00 on the Vivienne Westwood website. They will not only see the show but special behind the scenes footage and how the fashion show was put together.

2. For the most part this all has to do with word of mouth. A press release will be put out. Chicago news channels will all be called to announce the news. As well as it being written about in the Chicago new papers and magazines like the RedEye, CS Magazine, Michigan Avenue, Chicago Fashion Incubator and Style Chicago. A long with that there will be an article on Style.com and WWD.

This is the invitation everyone will be receiving through regular mail. RSVP will be through our production agency’s website. This is starting to become more popular and easier to manage. The invitations will be mailed in recycled paper

bag envelopes.

GUEST LIST

Since we will have over 300 people attending our fashion show,

we made a sample guest list. We want to include all Chicago media for this huge event taking part in their city. Everyone will receive a mailed invitation and must RSVP through the website we provide on our invitations. That is how will will secure everyones spot for the show. With the exception of 1 - 5 everyone on this list will be in the front row. In front of the main production booth there will be a space for the media to record and take pictures of the fashion show.
