For European made luminaires and lighting components, European harmonisation of national approval marks has been achieved through introduction of the ENEC mark.

The ENEC mark can be awarded by any of the recognised European approval

in the same way as a national approval mark. ENEC is important because it indicates that the product is suitable for use throughout Europe and that all of the most onerous special national conditions of test standards have been complied with.

In the case of lighting components such as ballasts, transformers, emergency lighting units etc. the ENEC mark indicates that both safety and performance standards have been complied with.

Thorn Lighting supported the introduction of the ENEC mark as a major advance in product certification

approvals under this demanding scheme.

The CE mark signifies that a product conforms to the requirements of relevant EEC directives. The prime purpose of the mark is to assist customs and market inspectors in facilitating the free trading and movement of products within the EEC. At this time the directives appropriate to general lighting products

Is the term used to denote the surrounding air temperature of the luminaire. In most industrial applications the ambient temperature can range from -20 to 50 degrees, ambient temperature affects luminaire operation and component life, it is highly recommended that a regular maintenance program is in place to ensure reliable operation. Luminaire Maintenance

Poor installation techniques, exposure to excessive heat, sunlight, and power supply extremes will all lead to accelerated aging and premature failure of a luminaire.

To ensure your lighting product operates efficiently & reliably the product must be installed in accordance with relevant standards, good practices and any specific instructions.

Periodic lamp replacement in accordance with manufacturer life projections will minimise maintenance costs and maximize efficiency. A maintenance program that includes regular cleaning, inspection & functionality testing of the primary components will ensure years of trouble free service.

A maintenance program is required where Metal Halide lamps are used as these lamps, on rare occasions, may fail in a violent manner. In applications where these lamps are operating continuously, the lamps should always be turned off of a period of at least once a week as a precaution to reduce the possibility of violent failures.

Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting is provided when the supply to the mains lighting fails. It helps people avoid panic, restores their confidence and guides them quickly and safely out of the building. Thorn Lighting offers a wide range of emergency lighting luminaires. These may be integrated standard luminaires or separate dedicated emergency units.

Safety Classifications

Class I Luminaires in this class are electrically insulated and provided with a connection to earth. Exposed metal parts that could become live in the event of basic insulation failure are protected by earthing.

The warranty applies to all products sold by ZG Lighting Australia Pty Ltd., including those branded Zumtobel, Thorn, Bega, Glashutte Limburg or Boom.

In the event of the goods being replaced during the warranty period, the warranty on the replacement goods will expire on the same date as the warranty period of the original goods they are replacing.
