The 2021 Faulkner County Fair will be the 83rd event of this nature. Our success has depended mainly on the helpof every organization of men and women in the county and numerous county and city officials. At the risk of leavingsomeone out, we especially want to express our appreciation for the assistance given to the Fair by the following: City ofConway (especially the Mayor’s office, the City Council and the Parks & Recreation Department), Faulkner County(especially the County Judge’s office, County Road Department, and Quorum Court), the Agriculture Teachers at all ofthe County Schools, the many 4-H volunteers, Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, Faulkner County Master Gardeners,the numerous individuals that volunteer to serve on the many Fair committees and all our exhibitors. We offer specialgratitude and appreciation to the Extension Agents and staff of the Faulkner County Extension Office without whoseassistance we could not conduct our annual Fair.

• Floats judged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places will receive cash prizes of$200, $175, $150, and $100 respectively. Prizes are not awardedto commercial floats.

• All horses entering the parade must have a certificate showing anegative Coggins test within the past 12 months.

come to the Faulkner County Extension Office at 844 Faulkner Street-- Monday – Friday

between the hours of 8:00 a.m.--4:00 p.m., or call 501-329-8344 with any questions.

• ALL LIVESTOCK & HOME EC. ENTRIES should be entered online by August 31, 2021

• Any Home Ec. entries brought after the entry deadline will receive a participationribbon and will be for display purposes as space allows.

• All entry fees are due August 31, 2021

PARKING PASSES

• Livestock exhibitors will receive one Week Parking Pass per person. The Livestock

exhibitors may pick these passes up at Fair Clean Up Day, September 11th, 2021 or theweek of the fair when they pick up their back numbers.

• Week Parking Passes are available for sale for $20 for general parking.

Passes may be purchased at the fair ticket office the week of the fair or by sending a checkto the following address. The Fair Board cannot be responsible for payments lost in themail.

Admission to the Fair is FREE

General Parking is $5.00 per day or Parking Pass for a week is $20.00. Handicap Parking will beat the North End Parking Lot of the Livestock Barn.

2021 CAMPER RESERVATIONS- In 2021, each electrical pedestal will accommodate three (3) campers. Space should be available for

approximately 42 campers.

- Camper spaces are available on a first come, first served basis for livestock exhibitors only. If we receive

more requests than spaces available on the first day reservations are open we will draw names for the

available spaces. Once all spaces have been reserved, no more reservations will be accepted. Camper

reservations will be assigned a camper space number. Campers must be located in their assigned

space.

- The fee for a camper space is $50.00 for the week. Non-payment of the $50.00 fee will result in

forfeiting of the reservation.

- No campers will be allowed before Saturday, September 18th, 2021. All campers must be removed

from the Fairgrounds by 3:00 pm Sunday, September 26nd, 2021.

- Due to an increase of camper spaces and overall limited space, each camper will be allowed parking

14space for ONE VEHICLE. Each camper reservation will receive ONE VEHICLE PASS. This pass must be

displayed on the vehicle as instructed. Only one (1) vehicle with the required pass will be allowed to

park at each camper space. All violators of this policy will have their vehicle towed at the owner’s

expense.

- No show animals will be allowed in the camper area.

- Reservations will be accepted beginning on Friday July 1st, 2021. There will be a Reservations form on

the Faulkner County Fair website that can be printed off and mailed in with the payment. Please mail

your reservation request (include your name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail along with

your check for the $50.00 fee) to the following address:

Any reservation request received before July 1st, 2021 will be returned.

Any reservation request received without the required contact info and $50.00 check will be

FAULKNER COUNTY FAIR DOG SHOW

Dog show begins Friday, September 24th, 2021 at noonuntil all classes are finished or approximately 5 p.m.

● Dogs are required to show proof of Rabies. Dogs are encouraged to have Distemper, andParvo vaccines but not required.

● Dogs will not be permitted in the livestock barn area at any time.● Dogs do not need to be registered or purebred.● Dogs do not need to be spayed or neutered, however no dog in season will be

allowed to show.● Exhibitors will wear jeans and Faulkner County Dog Show T-shirt for the show.

Exhibitors may substitute another dog with a note from their vet.● Exhibitors should have ownership of the dog by June 1st, 2021.● Exhibitors should be in good standing with a club.● Dogs should be at least 6 months old to compete, except for agility,

which is one year.● Exhibitors must clean up after their dog and carry bags with them at the

show site.● Dogs must be kept on leash or in a crate, except when being judged.● Dogs cannot be left unattended in a crate or especially in a hot vehicle.● No aggressive dogs will be allowed at the show site. This includes aggression toward

humans or other animals. No electric collars, no pinch collars.

Dogs should be trained in the class they are competing in. Exhibitors should display good sportsmanship.Exhibitors are expected to use good judgment and proper care for their dog at the show site (providing waterand exercise during the show). Exhibitors should have their dogs clean and free of fleas and ticks.

There will be a fee of $5 per class for obedience and agility classes for exhibitors 9-19 years of age.No charge for PeeWee exhibitors (ages 5-8).

No charge for showmanship classes.

The other classes will be divided into Junior (ages 9-12), Intermediate (ages 13-15), and Senior (ages16-19). Ages per class may vary as needed to fill classes.

Show Prep classes offered: This is an important step in training your dog to have fun with you!This can keep your dog safe.

16ClassesObedience, Beginning Novice- Flat buckle collar or choke (nylon or metal) 6 foot leash, treats are

allowed. All exercises on leash. Heel, Heel fig 8, sit or stand for exam, recall, long sit 1 min,long down 3 min, (handler may remain next to dog)

Obedience, Advanced - Heel on leash, Heel off leash, fig 8, stand for exam, recall across ring,long sit 1 min, long down 3 min, (handler across ring) Treats are not allowed.

Showmanship- this class judged on the handler’s ability to present the dog. Handler needs to beable to gait the dog and stack the dog to be examined by the judge. Handler may be askedquestions about their dog. Treats and toys are allowed.

Agility, Beginning- This is a very active and entertaining class. Keeps you and your dogexercised. -flat buckle collar and no tags only. There will be jumps, and tunnels for this class.This will be a timed event. Exercises may be performed on leash, leash may be dropped attunnel. There will be 5 jumps and 2 tunnels. Handlers and dogs will have a time to walk thecourse before competing. Treats and toys are allowed.

Agility, Advanced- Jumps, Tunnels, 6 Weave poles and A frame. Exercises are off leash. Penaltiesfor refusals, off courses and dropped bars. Handlers will walk the course before competing.Treats and toys not allowed.

Robin Fairless Walloch Award - A new award in honor of long time Faulkner County Fair DogShow judge Robin Fairless Walloch has been announced for this year.The award will be based on a total of points from all four classes (obedience, showmanship,agility and tricks). Entrant must enter all four classes in order to be eligible for the award.Points taken based on the placement in class and the number of dogs defeated.

Dogs are measured at shoulder:if dog height is 10 inches or less - 4 inch jump heightif dog height is 10 to 16 inches - 8 inch jump heightif dog height is 16 to 22 inches - 12 inch jump heightif dog is 22 inches and over - 16 inch jump height

1. All exhibitors must be residents of Faulkner County.

2. Youth exhibitors are those who are age 17 and under. Adult exhibitors are ages 18 & up.

3. All exhibits in the Youth and Adult Division will be awarded premiums on an A, B, C, and D basis. Ribbons

will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.

4. Youth and adult exhibitors may enter ONLY ONE ITEM PER CLASS of each division in each department.

5. All items must be produced by the exhibitor after last year’s county fair.

6. No weapons will be displayed.

7. All exhibits must be entered by the exhibitor or the exhibitor’s representative by the deadline. Entries MUST

be entered online at: faulk.fairmanager.com, or by coming to the Faulkner County Extension Office-844

Faulkner Street, M-F 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by calling the Extension Office at 501-329-8344 with any questions.

Home Economics exhibits MUST be brought Thursday, September 16th, 2021 3-8 p.m., with the exception of

Baked Goods and Floriculture, which is on Monday, September 20th, 2021 from 9-11 a.m.

8. Any Home Ec. entries brought after the entry deadline will receive a participation ribbon and will be

for display purposes as space allows.

9. All exhibits MUST be picked up between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 26nd, 2021.

10. Soiled articles will not be accepted.

11. All exhibitors must be amateurs and must not have earned $1,000.00 or more per year from the craft or

hobby they will exhibit.

12. All Home economics Division Exhibits will be judged Friday, September 17th, 2021 starting at 9:30 a.m.

13. Judging will be CLOSED to the public. THE JUDGE’S DECISION WILL BE FINAL.

14. The Chairmen of each Division shall have supervision and control of the exhibits in his/her Division during

the Fair, and reserves the right to prescribe the dimensions, regulate the positions of all exhibits so far as may

be necessary to secure harmony and attractive appearance and reserves the right to accept or reject an item

before or after entry is made.

2. EDUCATIONAL BOOTH EXHIBITS CAN BE PUT IN PLACE ON Sunday, September 19th, 2021, from 1 p.m. to

4 p.m and Monday, September 20th, 2021 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. All educational booths must be in place by 6

p.m., Monday, September 20th, and must remain in place until 9 a.m., Sunday, September 26th, 2021.

3. All groups wanting space for educational booths must call the County Extension Office at 329-8344. The

Extension Office at 844 Faulkner Street- will begin taking reservations for educational booth space July

30th, 2021 prior to the county fair, on a first come, first served basis.

4. The Fair will have watchmen on duty at all hours. Every precaution to prevent loss or damage will be

exercised; however, neither the Fair Association, Superintendent, nor Chairperson will be responsible

should any loss occur.

5. Educational Exhibit space is a 3 X 8 tabletop. Please let the Education Chairman know if you need a table

and electricity.

6. You must supply your own backdrop.

7. You must supply your own display items for handout materials.

1. General Rules and Regulations apply.

2. All entries must have been preserved within the previous 12 months and can only be entered once.

3. Canned products must be shown in standard pint or quart jars or jelly jars. One jar constitutes an entry.

4. For judging and safety reasons jars must be clear glass with Mason-type labeled on jar or box with a

clean metal lid and ring, vacuum sealed and of acceptable size per recipe instructions – typically quart,

pint or smaller. Jars with rusty bands or without bands will not be accepted.

5. Jams and Jellies: ¼ inch head space. No paraffin sealed jars will be accepted.

6. Vegetables: 1 inch head space.

7. Pickles: no artificial coloring, ½ inch head space.

8. Fruits: ½ inch head space.

9. Due to safety reasons no canned squash including summer, zucchini or spaghetti, pureed or mashed

pumpkin, sweet potatoes, or potatoes will be judged. Pickled summer squash and zucchini are allowed.

10. All entries must be prepared by the exhibitor. No store-bought items will be allowed.

LIVESTOCK & POULTRY DIVISIONS RULES AND REGULATIONSLivestock Superintendent: MIKE REYNOLDS

1. Ownership deadlines for all county exhibits are July 1, (except County Fair Broilers).

a. All livestock must be entered online by August 31st, 2021.

b. All market hogs must be ear notched and have an 840 tag.

c. All meat goats and market lambs must be scrapies tagged and have an 840 tag.

d. All market steers and commercial heifers must have an 840 tag.

e. Market animal nominations are limited to 3 steers (you may show 2), 4 lambs (you may only show 3),

4 hogs (you may only show 2), and 4 meat goats (you may only show 3).

f. All Poultry must submit leg & wing band numbers. A copy of Pullorum/Typhoid 90 Day or Flock

Certificate must be submitted for all poultry (INCLUDING BROILERS) to the Extension office,

superintendent, and a copy should be retained by exhibitor.

g. All rabbits must be tattooed.

h. All breeding beef must submit registration numbers.

i. All Market animals must be castrated and healed by the opening day of the fair.

j. Under the direction of the livestock superintendent the fair board will make the call of removal of sick

animals.

2. All animals in the breeding class must be recorded and accepted for record in the recognized book for

their respective breeds. Exhibitors must have registration certificate available with the exhibit for their

respective breeds at ALL TIMES, except Dairy Cattle.

3. Exhibitor must own the animal being shown. Animal must be registered solely in the individual’s name for

junior exhibitors. No co-ownerships, no chapter ownerships, no club ownerships, or farm names are allowed

Junior Show Eligibility: This department is limited to Arkansas students only, who are a bona fidemember of an FFA Chapter, 4-H Club, or a member of FCCLA in good standing in Faulkner County.Members from counties without a county fair, such as Pulaski, can show in Faulkner County. events at the beginning of the book. (NOTE: Animals may or may not be released after the show. The

early release of animals is based on overcrowding and the number of animals shown, therefore release

information, where applicable, will be announced at a later date).

9. All exhibits remaining on the grounds must remain in place UNTIL 10:00 P.M. ON THE CLOSING DAY OF

THE FAIR (AT DISCRETION OF LIVESTOCK SUPERINTENDANT).

10. Exhibitors will be required to show their own animal. Substitute exhibitors may be allowed for the

following reasons: sickness or physical injury documented by a physician or APRN; conflicts with animals

being exhibited in other species at the same time; two animals being shown in the same class at the same

time; or a pre-approved 4-H, FFA, or other County Fair competition. No other activity will qualify.

Notification for a substitute must be made to the Faulkner County Livestock Superintendent which will

confer with the Species Chairman and a Fair Board member to approve or disapprove the substitute

request. Approval must be obtained for a substitute showman prior to the start of the class in which there is

a conflict. Any substitute exhibitor must be a bona fide member of 4-H or FFA that has a Junior Livestock

entry in the current year’s Faulkner County Fair. In no case may a parent, agent, or advisor present or

assist with presentation of any animal. Any exceptions due to emergencies, etc. will be handled on a case

by case basis.

11. To qualify for premiums, all exhibitors must bring into the Ring for adjudication any animal properly

entered in any show class.

12. All premiums shall be awarded on a point basis.

13. Any livestock or poultry shown at any other county fair will NOT be eligible for premiums.

14. Where there are fewer entries in a Class than the number of places for premiums offered, the Judge

shall award First, Second, Third, etc. as the animal deserves.

15. Each exhibitor must furnish his/her own buckets for watering and feeding.

16. Each exhibitor, or someone in their family, must come out and take care of their own livestock by 9

a.m. each day, except poultry. The Poultry Department will supply feeding equipment and will feed and

water all birds. If livestock is unattended, the barn superintendent can see that it is cared for. Exhibitors

will be charged for this expense and no premium checks will be given out until this bill is paid in full.

5217. The primary care (fitting, grooming, care, etc.) of all junior livestock entries is to be performed by the

exhibitor whose name appears on the entry. The exhibitor must be present and must participate at all

times during fitting or grooming when assistance is being provided, except such times as the exhibitor may

be exhibiting livestock in another class, getting themself dressed/ready for a show, etc. Painting of switches,

tail heads, topknots, and boning of legs is permissible.

18. All stalls, pens, and aisles must be kept in a clean, neat, and orderly fashion and all refuse disposed of as

directed by the Superintendent.

19. No blocking/grooming chutes allowed in the aisles. An area will be provided for chutes. ALL AISLES

MUST REMAIN CLEAR!

20. NO SMOKING will be permitted in the barns.

21. Dogs will not be permitted on the Fairgrounds except for the dog shows.

22. Handicap parking will be in front of the Expo Building

23. A designated area will be available for parking RV’s and campers. All campers must park in this area.

See Camper Reservation section in the fair book for details.

24. No show animals will be allowed at campers.

25. All livestock and tack must be off Fair Grounds by midnight on the last day of the Fair. Any livestock

left after midnight will be sold or given away. The original owner or person who entered the livestock in

the Fair will be charged for any expense incurred by the Fair Board in disposing of the livestock. Any tack

remaining on the Fair Grounds at 8:30 a.m. on the Sunday following the last day of the Fair will be sold or

given away. The owner or person assigned to the stall, pen or tie out will be charged for any expense

incurred by the Fair Board in disposing of tack left on the Fair Grounds.

26. All final decisions will be made by the livestock superintendent, chairman of the species and a Fair

Board member. Anyone found in violation of any of the above rules will be subject to immediate

disqualification and possible banning from future exhibition. All decisions by management will be final and

not subject to protest.

Junior Exhibit Rules

● Junior Exhibits are limited to Arkansas students only, who are a bona fide member of a FFA Chapter, 4-H Club,

or a member of FCCLA in good standing.

EXHIBITION HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

FOR LIVESTOCK, POULTRY, AND EXOTIC ANIMALS FINAL RULE

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

CERTIFICATES OF VETERINARY INSPECTION AND ENTRY PERMITS: “Certification of Veterinary inspection” refers to

a legible record (made on an official form issued from the state of origin by and accredited veterinarian, which

shows that the animals listed thereon meet health requirements of the state of destination. It must bear the

identification of each animal and separate certificates must be made for each species of animal entered.

Entry permits are required on all out-of-state swine, rodeo bulls unless they are tested within thirty (30) days of

entry, psittacines, passerines, ratites, all other avian species except poultry and turkeys, cervids, camelids, or

exotic animals. Permits are also required on all cattle entering Arkansas from any state that is not a tuberculosis

free state, unless that state has a reciprocal agreement with Arkansas Permit numbers can be obtained from the

state veterinarian’s office (501) 907-2400 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A certificate of veterinary inspection must accompany all out-of-state animals; and

A. Must be available on request by animal health officials.

54B. Individually identify all animals, showing positive identification of each animal by tattoo, ear tag,

registration number or ear notch. Steers should be identified by description.

C. Show required tests, vaccinations, and entry permit number, if applicable.

D. Show name and address of owner or exhibitor—this shall be the same name as under which animals

are exhibited.

Any animal or poultry showing any evidence of infectious or contagious disease, or of external parasitism, and

animals with active ringworm lesions (with the resulting loss of hair), multiple warts easily visible without close

examination, or atrophic rhinitis, will not be permitted to exhibit. All animals entering the grounds, including

those shown in pet zoos, children’s barnyard animals, Old McDonald Farms, etc., must meet requirements of

their particular species.

All animals originating out of areas quarantined because of other diseases (vesicular stomatitis, scabies, etc.)

shall not be permitted to enter the state.

ARKANSAS LIVESTOCKCOUNTY, JR. DISTRICT, DISTRICT, STATE FAIR LEVEL, AND OTHER SHOWS

1. All animals entering the grounds, including those showing in pet zoos, children’s barnyard animals, Old

McDonald Farms, etc., must meet the requirements of their particular species.

2. Arkansas livestock (except for Arkansas sheep, goats, horses, steers and rabbits) must be accompanied by a

certificate of veterinary inspection issued within ninety (90) days prior to exhibition, showing the following:

ARKANSAS CATTLE1. If Arkansas is a Class Free state, Arkansas cattle are exempt from brucellosis testing. If Arkansas is not a Class

Free State, then the following testing requirements must be met:

2. Negative brucellosis test within ninety (90) days prior to exhibition, for females and bulls eighteen (18)

months of age and over. All heifers that have calved or are bred must be tested. Animals originating from a

certified brucellosis Free Herd are exempt if the Certified Free Herd number is shown on certificate.

3. All heifers that are four to twelve (4-12) months of age shall be vaccinated before entering show.

4. Heifers that are over twelve (12) months of age and are not official calfhood vaccinated will not be allowed to

show (unless they are from a Brucellosis Certified Free Herd.)

ARKANSAS SWINE1. As of July 1, 2001, all swine must have an official premise identification.

2. Animals six (6) months old or older to be tested negative for brucellosis within ninety (90) days of exhibition

or originate directly out of a Validated Herd, with Validation number and date of last herd test shown on

certificate (barrows exempt from brucellosis testing but must be pseudo rabies tested.)

3. Animals to be tested negative for pseudo rabies regardless of age within ninety (90) days of the exhibition on

a test approved by the state veterinarian or originate directly out of a Qualified Pseudo rabies Free Herd, with

Qualified Herd number and date of last test shown on certificate.

4. Free off other contagious, infectious, and communicable diseases (erysipelas, atrophic rhinitis, etc.);

otherwise they will not be allowed to show and will be released from fairgrounds.

ARKANSAS SHEEP AND GOATS1. Exhibition officials must maintain records of all sheep and goats that are exhibited for a period of five years to

include:

4. The name, complete address and phone number of the owner

5. Fair personnel, veterinarians, or state-federal personnel may examine sheep on grounds.

6. Any sheep showing clinical symptoms of Scrapie shall be immediately quarantined in isolation and required

to undergo any approved diagnostic tests and shall be consigned to slaughter or destruction with submission

of tissues to an approved diagnostic laboratory at the exhibitor’s expense.

567. Commingling (as defined by the Arkansas Scrapie Regulation) of sheep or goats of different flock status as

defined by the Voluntary Flock Certification Program (VFCP) is prohibited and must be reported to the VFCP

state official and State Veterinarian.

8. No sheep or goats showing symptoms of disease, particularly foot rot, sore mouth, sheep pox, evidence of

fungal infection, evidence of abscesses or with draining abscesses will be allowed to show and may be

released by fair officials, veterinarians, or state-federal personnel.

ARKANSAS RABBITS1. Rabbits will be inspected on grounds. No rabbits showing symptoms of disease will be allowed to show.

ARKANSAS POULTRY1. An official representing the exhibition shall notify the state veterinarian no later than thirty (30) days prior to

the exhibition, giving names, place, inclusive dates, and time of the event.

3. All in-state poultry, which includes domesticated game birds, quail, pheasants, peafowl, guineas, and turkeys,

present at exhibition in Arkansas shall have originated from U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent flocks

or have had a negative pullorum-typhoid test within ninety (90) days of the movement to the exhibition

(pullorum-typhoid testing on fairgrounds during the fair is prohibited.) This information will be documented

on a NPIP Form VS 9-3, 90-Day Certificate, NPIP Flock Certification Form or similar certificate that will

accompany the poultry during exhibition.

4. All noncertified birds must be banded (leg or wing band), with a sealed band. Wraparound plastic bands are

not acceptable. In-state waterfowl are exempt from Pullorum-typhoid requirements.

5. Any poultry showing evidence of infectious or contagious disease or insect infestation will not be permitted

to exhibit.

6. Record Keeping – The sponsor of the exhibition shall compile a list of all poultry present at exhibition.

7. This list shall contain the name and address of each owner the number, the species, breed, variety, type, sex,

and pullorum-typhoid status of all poultry present. A copy of this shall be retained by the sponsor of the

exhibition for at least twelve (12) months.

Market – Division 1Minimum Weight: 45 pounds

1. Each exhibitor may nominate four (4) goats but is limited to showing three (3) goats.

2. Goats will be shown by weight. Entries will be divided into a minimum of three classes by weight after

weigh-in.

3. Either Wethers or Does will be allowed to show. Does shown in the dairy show may NOT be shown in the

market show.

4. Any breed of goat or cross may be shown.

5. All goats must have their baby teeth at the County Fair.

6. Meat Goats may be horned, but horns must be tipped (to dime sized diameter) for safety.

7. Meat Goats MUST BE TAGGED with a scrapies tag from the herd of origin or USDA approved tag and the

scrapies tag must be on the nomination for at the time of nomination. NO EXCEPTIONS.

8. Bracing will be allowed, all 4 of the animal’s hooves must remain on the ground. Judge will have final call.

9. Exhibitors unable to lead and safely handle their Meat Goat may be asked to leave the ring with no placing

awarded.

Faulkner County Bred Market Hog – Division 2

The Faulkner County Bred Grand or Reserve Grand will not be selected from the premium sale line up, as in

past years.

After the end of the Grand Champion drive and all the class winners have been lined up for the premium sale,

we will follow these steps in the selection:

1. If the Grand or Reserve Grand (or both) from the market show IS FC BRED, they will be awarded as placed

from the show the highest placing available. Example: If the Reserve Grand is FC BRED and the Grand is not,

then the Reserve Grand is the FC BRED Grand Champion.

2. If the Grand or Reserve Grand IS NOT FC BRED, we will hold a class of the highest placing FC BRED animals

from each class of breed and crossbred market hogs for the selection of FC BRED Grand and Reserve Grand

Market Hog.

3. The second highest class placing animal will be in the holding pen ready to drive if the animal placing above

them is selected.

4. If there are no FC BRED animals that place in the top 7 placing for a class, that class will be omitted from the

FC BRED drive.

5. Once the FC BRED Grand and Reserve Grand have been selected the remaining hogs will be dismissed and we

Market Hogs – Division 3Market Hogs will be divided into classes by weight or breed.

Minimum Weight: 160 pounds Maximum Weight: 280 pounds.

In 2021, we will start the Market Hog Show with the Market Breed classes. We are going to follow the State

Fair format on a trial basis. We will show all recognized breed species that hold record for that breed. These

entries will not be registered with their respective breed but must follow that breed’s guidelines.

Listed are the breeds that will be eligible: Berkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland

China, Spot, and Yorkshire.

81The following rules will be set for the breed classes.

1. There must be at least 7 animals of that breed to make a class. If there are not enough animals to make a class,

we will have an AOB (All Other Breeds) class, providing there are 7 hogs to make up the AOB class. These

hogs must be present at show, not just nominated.

2. Each class will be placed 1st through 7th just as all market classes.

3. If there is only one class for that breed, the champion for that breed will be awarded at the time of the class.

4. The top 7 hogs of each breed will be selected by the judge to return for Grand Overall Drive and sale order

selection. Judge’s discretion will then be used to determine whether more than 7 hogs from each breed will

be retained for sale order selection.

5. Each exhibitor will be responsible for declaring their own animal’s breed. FCF Swine committee will not be

responsible for making that decision for you.

6. If you declare your animal to be of a breed and the judge feels your animal does not follow that breed’s

characteristics you may be disqualified from that class. The judge’s decision is final.

7. The Faulkner County Fair Swine Committee reserves the right to amend these rules as needed to benefit the

show or exhibitors.

The Market Show line-up will be as follows.

1. Breed classes will be alphabetically lined up. Example: If you have a Berkshire appearing hog, you will show

before a Yorkshire appearing hog will show.

2. The crossbred classes will begin following the breeding classes, and will be divided by weight from 160 to 280

lbs.

3. At the end of the show all class champions and breed overall champions will return to the ring for Faulkner

County Fair Grand Champion Market Hog. Once the Grand has been awarded, the second-place animal from

the class the Grand was chosen from will enter the ring for consideration of Reserve Grand Market Hog. Once

the Reserve has been awarded any 2nd place animal will be removed from the ring, and we will begin the

sale order lineup of all the champions.

4. Once the champions are done, we will hold the Faulkner County Bred if there is a need for this class to be

exhibited. We will refer to the FC Bred rule to make this decision.

5. All the 2nd place animals from breeding and cross bred will then enter the ring, and we will finish the show

with selecting the remainder of the sale animals.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

1. All poultry must be pre-registered online with County Extension Office by August 31st, 2021.

2. All poultry exhibits must be accompanied by a Health Certificate: current Pullorum 90 Day Certification or

a Pullorum Free Flock Certificate. A copy must be submitted with registration form no later than August

31st, 2021. Birds should be clean and free of mites. **All poultry including broilers must be blood tested.

3. Poultry exhibitors are limited to 10 Bantam entries, 10 Standard entries, one 4-H Poultry Chain Pen, and 1

4-H Broiler Chain Pen.

4. Exhibitors are limited to 2 entries per class of the same variety and breed, except in best.

5. Competition is open to all standards and bantams as stated in the American Standard of Perfection and on

recognized commercial lines and crossed for market egg production.

6. Exhibits may enter the fairgrounds Monday, September 20th, 2021 – 4 - 10 p.m. Poultry must be in place by

10 p.m. Premiums will be forfeited if exhibits are removed earlier without permission from show officials.

All birds (except broilers) will be released starting at 10 p.m. Saturday, September 25th, 2021.

7. Only County 4-H Broiler Chain birds may be shown in the Broiler Show. Broilers may begin entering the

fairgrounds Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 – 7:30 a.m. and must be in place by 8 a.m. Judging will begin at

8:30 a.m. Broilers are released after the show.

8. All birds will be fed and watered and eggs will be collected by the department officials and assistants daily.

9. Exhibits may only be handled by the owner, judge, show officials, and show assistants, except by written

permission.

10. Exhibitors must check on their own exhibits daily.

11. Exhibits showing sign of sickness will be removed.

Meat pens and single fryers will be released from the fairgrounds at the conclusion of the show. Exception the

Single Fryer and Meat Pen Champion and Reserve Champion must stay on grounds at the Champion Row.

1. Exhibitors must furnish feed daily. If exhibitor cannot feed and water their rabbits, they must make

arrangements prior to fair and notify a committee member as to who will be taking care of their animals.

2. All rabbits entered must have a legible tattoo in the left ear for identification. Rabbits must be tattooed

prior to check in.

3. All rabbits must be checked in with a member of the rabbit committee during the times listed. Rabbits

must be healthy.

4. Exhibitors will be limited to one rabbit per class per breed. Exhibitors may nominate five (5) Meat Pens but

are limited to showing four (4) Meat Pens. Exhibitors may nominate five (5) Single Fryers but are limited to

showing four (4).

5. Rabbits entered as part of a Meat Pen or Single Fryers will NOT be shown in any other class, other than

showmanship.

6. Judging will be in accordance with breed standards established by American Rabbit Breeders Association

(ARBA); however, this is not a sanctioned show. All rabbits will be shown by breeds. All cross breeds

and/or pets will be shown together.

7. Rabbits will not be placed if deemed unworthy by the judge.

8. Pens for meat rabbits will be available for those showing multiple species, but MUST be removed from the

fairgrounds by Wednesday, September 22nd, at conclusion of show unless prior arrangements have been

made.

9. Rabbits (other than meat rabbits) must stay until all livestock are released at 10 p.m. on Saturday.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

All cattle must have CERTIFICATE OF VETERINARY INSPECTION (follow state rules). All breeding animals 4

months of age and older must be calf hood vaccinated. Steers are exempt.

1. Each exhibitor will be limited to (2) entries per breeding dairy class.

2. All animals must be clipped, groomed, and broke to show.

3. Dairy Cattle may begin entering the fairgrounds at 5pm, Sunday, September 19th.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

1. All poultry must be pre-registered online with County Extension Office by August 31st, 2021.

2. All poultry exhibits must be accompanied by a Health Certificate: current Pullorum 90 Day Certification or

a Pullorum Free Flock Certificate. A copy must be submitted with registration form no later than August

31st, 2019. Birds should be clean and free of mites. All poultry including broilers must be blood tested.

3. OPEN Poultry exhibitors are limited to 10 Bantam entries and 10 Standard entries. OPEN exhibitors are

NOT allowed to show 4-H Poultry Chain Pen, and one 4-H Broiler Chain Pen.

4. Exhibitors are limited to 2 entries per class of the same variety and breed, except in best.

5. Competition is open to all standards and bantams as stated in the American Standard of Perfection and on

recognized commercial lines and crossed for market egg production.

6. Exhibits may enter the fairgrounds Monday, September 20th, 2021 – 4 - 10 p.m. Poultry must be in place by

10 p.m.

7. Premiums will be forfeited if exhibits are removed earlier without permission from show officials. All birds

will be released starting at 10 p.m. Saturday, September 19th, 2021.

8. All birds will be fed and watered and eggs will be collected by the department officials and assistants daily.

9. Exhibits may only be handled by the owner, judge, show officials, and show assistants, except by written

permission.

10. OPEN Exhibitors must check on their own exhibits daily.

11. Exhibits showing sign of sickness will be removed.

12. Neither the Faulkner County Fair Association nor the Junior Poultry Department will be responsible for any

loss or death of exhibits.

Purpose of the Agricultural Mechanics1. To provide an opportunity for FFA and 4-H members to display projects constructed to show their talent in Ag

Mechanics.

2. To promote the development of skills in agricultural mechanics through completion.

3. To recognize individual and group accomplishments in the area of Agricultural Mechanics.

4. To provide an opportunity for public appreciation of the important phase of the FFA and 4-H youth projects.

Special Rules for Agricultural Mechanics1. A $10.00 entry fee PER EXHIBIT is required PER ENTRY. A team entry is $10.00 PER MEMBER.

2. Exhibitors must be a Faulkner County resident attending a public or private school or homeschooled.

3. Must be an active member of Faulkner County FFA or 4-H Club.

4. Projects may have been constructed by an individual or a group of no more than three members.

5. Projects must be constructed at the Ag Science Shop or Home.

6. A project can be exhibited only one time at the Faulkner County Fair and must have been completed within

one calendar year of the exhibition date.

7. All projects must be painted or properly treated, must be cleaned, and in a presentable condition.

8. An original plan or drawing, a bill of materials, and photographs showing all phases construction are to be

provided with projects. All documentation must be typed.

9. Projects will be judged on:

A. Workmanship 30 Points

B. Design and materials used 20 Points

C. Presentation 20 Points

D. Practicality 10 Points

E. Degree of difficulty 10 Points

F. General appearance and finish 10 Points

10. Ribbons will be presented to the placing project in each class. The top placing project in each class will

compete for the Overall Grand and Reserve Grand Champion in each category. Each category Grand will

show for Overall Grand.

11. Violation of any Faulkner County Fair Rule, or misconduct by exhibitors or parent/guardian will serve as a

disqualification of exhibitor from the show for the current year and/or the following year if the Faulkner

County Fair Board deems it necessary.

12. The Faulkner County Fair and Board will not be held responsible for any damages that occur while the

project is on the Fair Grounds.

The Faulkner County Premium Auction Sale is governed by the rules set forth by the Faulkner County 4H/FFA JuniorLivestock Foundation. This Foundation is a separate entity from the Faulkner County Fair & Livestock Exposition, Inc.(which manages the Faulkner County Fair). This year’s Premium Auction Sale will be held on the Saturday, September25st, 20 at 10 a.m. at the Faulkner County Fair in the Fair show arena located in the Livestock Barn. Invest in Faulkner County YouthThe Faulkner County Fair encourages you to invest in our Faulkner County youth by supporting the Premium Auction

Sale. Each year, 4-H and FFA members select and train animals to show at the County Fair.These animals represent a large part of the summer activities for these youth. Many hours are spent feeding, training,

and grooming these animals so they will be in top condition for the county fair.Through these projects, these young people learn important life skills such as proper methods of livestock production

and management, self-discipline, and sportsmanship. They develop personal pride, leadership qualities, and anunderstanding of the economics of agriculture.

The auction is a fun event during the fair and you will not want to miss seeing the young people and theiraward-winning animals.

Your support in making bids on these projects will contribute to helping these youth meet their obligations to payfeed bills and bank notes. Profits made will either be used to finance next year’s project, or to help with a college

education.Bidding at the auction is easy. You are bidding on a bonus to be paid to the young exhibitor above the market value

they will receive from the processing company. Don’t worry; you will not have to take possession of the livestock. Thisyear’s event features champion animals to include steers, hogs, lambs, meat goats, two (2) pens of broilers, champion

meat rabbit pen, and champion meat rabbit single fryer.

HISTORY OF THE FAULKNER COUNTY FAIR

On March 19, 1909 the first Faulkner County Fair Association was formed by The Conway Board of Tradeunder the leadership of its President, Jo Frauenthal and its Secretary, G. L. Bahner. The Fair Association Boardof Directors consisted of the following: H. B. Ingram (President), Stonewall Anderson (Vice President), L. C.Holman (Secretary), B. L. Harton (Treasurer), Jo Frauenthal, S. G. Smith, and William J. Grummer. L. C. Perrywas appointed the first Fair Manager, but moved from Conway in July 1909. Frank Farris was appointed tosucceed him. The first Faulkner County Fair was held on October 4th through October 7th, 1909 on propertyowned by Judge Sam Frauenthal, which was bounded on the south by Oak Street, on the west by HarkriderStreet, on the north by Mill Street and on the east by Ingram. Governor Donaghey opened the first FaulknerCounty Fair at 11:30 a.m. on October 4th, 1909. The first Faulkner County Fair was a success, however in theyears to follow the fair began losing money. In August of 1915 the Faulkner County Fair decided it was in the bestinterest not to continue with a fair. Other than some county farm club fairs, there was not another FaulknerCounty Fair until 1938.

Under the leadership of the Young Businessmen’s Association, Faulkner County Free Fair was held in abuilding at the northwest corner of Locust Street and Oak Street. The president of the YBMA was R. A. McNuttand the Fair Chairman was Robert W. Mosley. Others on the fair committee were Theo Ashcraft (Treasurer), E.D. Bell, Dr. O. D. Smith, S. D. Mitchell, Eugene Hankins and Mrs. Dora Stubblefield. The first fair in 1938 wassuch a success that it was decided to have a county fair the next year. From 1939 through 1942, the county fairwas held on S. T. Smith’s property at the northwest corner of Van Ronkle Street and Markham Street. In 1945 theCounty Fair was held at the Conway Airport property.

In 1946 the YMBA purchased property on Robins Street from Father Anthony Lachowsky and theFaulkner County Fair was held on this property through 2009. 2010 was the start of a new era for the FaulknerCounty Fair. From its new location off Hwy. 64 to the luxury of new facilities, the Faulkner County Fair is sure tobe a success for many years to come.
