Dear UMCPB Church, Most people want peace. We long for peace between nations. We plead for peace in our communities. Peace is needed between religions, race, color, and creed. We want peace in our families, relationships, and mar-riages. These things mentioned, and those not mentioned, can bring much angst in our lives. However, as much as we want peace in these
areas, we need, as human beings, a greater peace. We need inner peace. Peace that transcends the external world. Peace that goes to the core of our being that gives us the assurance “even so, it is well with my soul. Many people look and find peace in all kinds of things. Personally I find peace in woodworking. I enjoy it tremendously and I can let go of “the things of this world”. Reading books, taking walks, sewing, being at the beach or in nature are all things that bring peace for people. The problem with this kind of peace is that it only lasts for the moment and is so quickly swallowed up when troubles return. There are dead-lines to meet, people wanting your money, the car broke down, tensions are high, unex-pected trouble comes, relationships are broken, and the list goes on and on and on. The good news is you can have inner peace. How? The fourth quarter memory verse for 2016 tells us exactly what to do: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 May your heart and mind find peace in Christ. Music and the Arts
The next Curbside Mission Café will be Tuesday, October 4th from 4:00-6:00. Included in the
meal: Spaghetti, Garlic Bread, Cup of Parmesan Cheese, Fruit Cup –or– Coleslaw, Jumbo
Chocolate Chip Cookie, and a Mint. The cost is $6.00 for a single and $18.00 for a family
(feeds four). You can also purchase 6 additional cookies for just $4.00. Extra spaghetti
sauce is also available for $4.00.
Help us increase our profit margin! Please return your spaghetti containers so we can reuse
them. Just bring them when you come to pick up your spaghetti or drop them off anytime at
the choir room (107).

Fall Festival
Music Groups Rehearsal Time Changes
Mark Your Calendars OCTOBER 22nd 9:00—2:00 for our annual
Fall Festival. It’s going to be a great day with crafters, vendors,
pumpkin patch, food trucks, community rummage sale, boiled peanuts,
bounce house, and more! The event is FREE and open to the public. If
you know of a crafter or vendor, please tell them about us!
The Community Rummage Sale is perfect opportunity for our friends
and neighbors to have their own personal sale. Most housing
developments do not permit residents to set up a sale on their
property. Well, now you can do it on ours!
You can also help us advertise by liking our add on the church’s
Facebook page. A downloadable poster of the event is also available on
the church website (www.umcpb.org). Click on the “Fall Festival”
banner. Then go to the bottom of the page to download the poster.
Print as many as you like and post them at your area businesses. Unlike many other similar events, we require no
percentage of vendor’s sales. It’s all yours to keep!

The Chancel Choir is moving their rehearsals from Thursdays to Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. beginning Oct. 4th. So
you might be wondering when will the Praise Team practice? You guessed it. They are moving to Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
beginning Oct. 6th. This change will be beneficial to both groups. If you’ve been interested in serving in one of these
groups and just couldn’t work it into your schedule, perhaps this time change will help you out! Contact Cary for more

Haiti- The school year has started back up and we will once again be looking to support the school that our
very own Fritzlorme Etienne has started in Haiti. Please keep both the students and the teachers in your prayers.
Cuba- Pastor George, who pastors our sister church in Briones Cuba will be coming to Florida in November to visit his brother. He hopes to come here and meet us while he is in Florida.
Mission Boxes: As always donations to the Mission Boxes for the month of October will go toward our mission fund.
CROS Pantry: Please bring in some extra nonperishable and canned items for the CROS Food Pantry.

Extending God’s extravagant love by opening our hearts and doors to persons with disabilities
We have an amazing church! The good people of UMCPB have stepped up to help welcome our guest with special needs. In September, we had a Bingo and Ice Cream Social with over 100 people in attendance. Several group homes, along with a group from the Special Olympics participated. Our church went above and beyond in helping our guests to feel welcome and loved by God. Thank you!
Our smaller group, the Amigos TAG, has been meeting once a month. We have grown from the original 3 Amigos to 11 Amigos. This group is interested in serving others. We are aware that God has given all of us gifts so there-fore we must learn how to share those gifts with others. In that light, we have delivered 61 blankets to the chil-dren in Palm Beach Children’s Hospital. Next year, we will help CROS ministry with sorting food. We are looking for service projects to do. If you are aware of any, please contact Phyllis.
Remember to keep our Night to Shine prom in your prayers. We will soon be looking for volunteers. You do not want to miss this event.

We are starting a new study, Becoming a Woman of Prayer by Cynthia Heald on Saturday, October 8, We will meet at 8:00 AM for breakfast prepared by the Ironmen (please bring a donation for the breakfast) and at 8:30 AM we will move to room 116 for this new study. Books will be available soon in the church bookstore. Nursery available.

TAG GROUP!!
Third Sunday of Each Month—Amigos TAG
October 2016 Sunday school
We invite children of all ages to join us as we learn and grow in God’s love every Sunday morning during the 9:30 service. Miss Kate, Miss Jill, Miss Katie, Miss Cindy, and Miss Christen, and Mr John & Mrs. Natalie lead our 2 & 3 year olds in room 104. Miss Kay & Miss Anette lead our four-year olds in room 105. Miss Vicky, Mr. Larry, and Mr. Jim lead our five and six year olds (K-1) in room 106. Miss Carol leads our second and third graders in room 114, and Miss Paige & Mr. John lead our fourth and fifth graders in room 113.
Children’s Church
Sunday mornings during the 11:00 service (after dismissal from Children’s Sermon), kids Pre-K-2nd grade can join us in room 104, and kids in 2nd-5th grade can join us in room 106, as we create experiences to help them grow in relationship with Jesus and each other. We use Group’s Buzz curricu-lum. Leaders are Diane Fournier for elementary age, and Stephanie Hicks, Don Kula and Della Gaylor for Pre-K.
Loving Nursery Care
Offered each Sunday during all services for children three months through two years old, the nursery is located in the west wing next to the Blessings Abound bookstore and the outside playground.
S.O.U.L. Patrol
“Seeking Out U Lord!” is for children ages three years to fifth grade, from 4:00 – 6:00 in rooms 105 and 107. Please enter through the glass door/western entrance of the Gathering Place. Join us as we learn more about God through fellowship, Bible stories, music and outdoor fun! A NEW 6-Week STUDY is being offered Quarterly!!!

Disciple’s Path is an engaging approach to discipleship from a distinctly Wesleyan perspective. Whether used as an introduction for new members or a renewal course for existing members, the program guides individuals to take the next step in discipleship and become dynamic, engaged followers of Jesus Christ. The study combines a Wesleyan understanding of our growth in God’s love and grace with the time-tested practices of spiritu-al discipline expressed in the membership vows to uphold the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Participants will develop spiritual practices, discover their unique gifts, and become engaged in ministry that brings transfor-mation in their own lives, the lives of others, and the world.
This Daily Workbook contains six weeks of daily readings (five per week) that guide participants in learning and practicing seven essential spiritual disciplines: Prayer Scripture Meditation Corporate Worship Small-group Community Financial Generosity Gifts-based Service Invitational Evangelism

Peter pumpkin eater had a wife and couldn’t keep her. He put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well. This is a cute nursery rhyme, but what if you really had no place to go except a pumpkin shell?
Or what if you didn’t have a pumpkin shell, or even a car to sleep in? That is the situation for hundreds of families in palm beach county. We had the privilege to host 3 families who had been with us before. Seeing the difference in these families from the beginning of the program, to their preparations to transition to their own homes was amazing. Please keep Jordan, Tiffany, and Monique in your prayers as these moms help their families continue the journey to stability that a job and home makes.
Family promise will be selling pumpkin bread at the craft fair on the 22nd
.
The money raised will not assist with expenses for the host weeks.
We do have some positions open for the upcoming weeks. Food coordinator- Do you love to cook and plan nutritious meals? This is the job for you. The food coordinator works to make sure the families are provided with meals for their weeks with us and works with the dinner providers to make sure there is a hot meal available for every evening. Over night hosts- We have need for people, male and female to stay overnight to be available for families and to set out breakfast in the morning. The families leave the church by 6:15 am so it does not interfere with work schedules.
Weekend hosts – hosts to assist and provide support and supervision for families. We usually do a fun activity on Saturday, so it is a great activity for families with children to serve as a team.
