The mission of FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, Inc. (FCDI) is to provide access to biologically relevant and predictive human biology. Toward this end, FCDI has pioneered the industrial manufacture of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, which are derived from non-embryonic human tissue cells (e.g. skin, blood) and have the potential to differentiate into any cell type in the human body, including heart, muscle, and brain. Importantly, iPS cells and the cells differentiated from them can be generated from any individual or cohort of individuals representing specific genetic profiles or disease states. These cells retain the donor’s unique genetic profile, including any disease-associated mutations or polymorphisms.   • Human cells: Cells are differentiated from human iPS cells and exhibit expected characteristics and functions.

    Homogenous and reproducible: Cells are highly pure, providing biologically relevant and reproducible results.

    Acute and long-term testing: Cells remain viable and pure in culture for weeks, enabling assessment of both acute and sub-chronic responses.

    Easy to implement: Cells are shipped cryopreserved and usually with cell culture media formulated for optimal cell performance. Simply thaw and use.

    Since its inception in 2004, FCDI has developed and launched a suite of products that

    include iPS cell-derived differentiated cells representing “typical” human biology (iCell®

    products), as well as individuals representing specific disease states (MyCell® Products).

    Our iCell products include human cells of the cardiac (heart), neural (brain), hepatic

    (liver), musculoskeletal (muscle, bone), and hematopoietic (blood) lineages. FCDI’s

    MyCell Products enable custom iPS cell generation, genetic engineering, and

    differentiation from customer-defined donor samples representing specific disease states

    or genetic profiles.

    FCDI’s iCell and MyCell products overcome many of the limitations of existing cell

    models, including the lack of relevant human biology, low reproducibility, and lack of

    availability. Because of these limitations, FCDI’s products are rapidly being adopted

    by researchers in government and academic research institutes, biopharmaceutical

    companies, and non-profit disease foundations. In the last 2 - 3 years, FCDI’s iPS cell-

    derived products have been cited in over 40 peer-reviewed publications in which the

    cells have been used to accelerate disease research, drug discovery, and safety testing.

    In addition, FCDI’s products are being used in preclinical studies toward the design,

    development, and manufacture of cell-based therapeutics.

    FCDI: Your Provider of iPS Cell-derived CellsFCDI’s iCell and MyCell products are shipped worldwide as vials of cryopreserved human cells, which are then

    thawed, plated, and assayed in the customer’s laboratory. To ensure success, FCDI provides protocols, “how

    to” videos, remote and on-site technical support, and iCertification training courses. FCDI’s differentiated cell

    products have been used and published on for basic and clinical research, drug development (including high-

    throughput drug screening), and safety testing.

    FCDI: Your Colleague in Developing AssaysFCDI has a dedicated team of scientists and a state-of-the-art applications lab, outfitted with cell analysis

    platforms commonly used in research and drug screening, for the sole purpose of developing applications and

    protocols to support customers’ needs. In addition, FCDI has established relationships with many platform

    providers and contract research organizations to facilitate access to the latest technology and services.

    Customers are encouraged to engage in conversation with our scientists to discuss specific applications,

    review data, and share insight regarding the use of iPS cell technology.

    FCDI: Your Partner in Making Disease Models Widely AvailableFCDI is actively engaged in partnerships with funding organizations, disease foundations, and research

    institutes to create novel, disease-relevant cell models and make them widely accessible to academic and

    pharmaceutical researchers. Specifically, FCDI offers support in identifying and accessing donor samples,

    guidance in experimental design, and assistance in making these resources broadly available through FCDI or

    various biobanks with whom FCDI has existing relationships.
