O f the many new pieces of equipment available to FCTV members, one of the most exciting is the versatile GoPro Hero3+ camera. This

durable and diminutive tool opens new avenues for video expression that were previously unavailable to the general public. It’s even waterproof! One of its particularly notable benefits is the ease with which FCTV producers can now capture P.O.V. (point-of-view), or first-person footage. It is so small and light that it can be easily attached to a beagle, bicycle, sailboat or snorkel for striking high-definition and surprisingly stable action footage. These shots can be used by themselves for a unique and entertaining travelogue, or edited in with footage from our larger JVC 150 cameras for eye-catching cutaways on your latest documentary or PSA production.

Another exciting aspect of our tiny titan is its ability to do time-lapse photography, a vivid way to capture the action of a construction project, underwater adventure, road-trip, or just a day in the life of your favorite street or beach. You may have ideas for projects you never envisioned before once you’ve seen it in action.

Want to learn more? FCTV’s GoPro 101 class can show you exactly how to use its menus, how to mount it, program it, control it, and most everything else about it. Can’t make the next class? Call 508-457-0800 for an appointment and one of FCTV’s production staff can get you up and running.
