WelcomeWe would like to welcome you to our 50th Annual Fall Production Sale. 68 yrs of registering Hereford cattle has built four generations of family. The confidence the Hereford cattle have given the young and the old to grow up with has been remarkable. To stay in the registered business this long one has to love both the livestock and the lifestyle. The Hereford fraternity has contributed greatly to this way of life that we are fortunate enough to live. From the 1961 sale to now there have been many changes and trends. It’s funny how what was old is new again. One thing is certain is that the easy doing, good haired, Hereford cow will always be in demand for their durability and docile manner. We spend a lot of money on feed efficiency trials to prove what experienced ranchers already know. Back in the day the Herefords lived on straw piles and dug prairie grass from the snow. They survived their environment when some would not. With input costs on the rise and Mother Nature leaving feed yards at times short we sometimes need to relearn old lessons. Our current cow herd winters on standing corn from Nov 1 to April 1. They are then brought home, paired up, and pushed back out to spring pasture. The natural selection of Mother Nature’s wrath is the best EPD and feed efficiency trial we are aware of. When purebred cattle achieve their goals under range conditions they will excel under controlled environments. This will provide the consistency to increase the bottom line.At Fenton Hereford Ranch our goal is to provide top quality, ranch-tested seedstock. Blair raised and broke Pedro but couldn’t register him because his dam and sire were both appendix registered. His 2 sisters will have excellent foals in the sale under the Cokes Cuttabar lineage. If you are looking for a solid horse in the branding pen or everyday ranch work ,Pedro is the guy. I enjoy riding this horse for long hours because he’s good in the bush, speeds up when asked but will flat walk on command. Domino is a home-raised gelding of Conrad’s that has seen a lot of miles. This moderate sized smart headed horse will track and watch a cow and enjoy it. He has pasture roped and doctored lots from young calves to cows. Domino has a big heart, a fast walk, and will carry you over a long day without being asked. He is light and responsive which makes him quicker than the average horse. When he turns back a cow it is best to be ready. For those who team pen or cut this horse will do that. You can speed him up but he will slow down on command. After spring calving and sorting was done here Domino was used and enjoyed on the community pasture by Terry Westerlund. He can be left periods of time without changing and has never bucked but due to his athletic ability he may be much for beginner riders.

A home raised stallion from a Dick Pahl bred mare and a Russ Arthur stallion. When we first tied this guy up as a baby he never pulled back and we wondered if he would lead. He was obliging from day one and we thought he might be stallion material. The first time we saddled him it never bothered him so we rode off. He never looked back. Due to this disposition we used him extensively and are glad we did. His colts are a pleasure to train and are fancy to boot!
