Dear Members,Fall is just around the corner! The kids are back in school, the golf course is in great shape, and the weather is nally cooperating. We are continuing our improvements across the club to createenjoyment for all.

Speaking of enjoyment, we are currently investigating a product called GolfBoards, and if we

proceed, they will be available for rental this fall! Thisstate of the art “Surf the Earth” equipment is an easy-to-ridevehicle that adds a new level of fun and excitement for golfers of all ages. GolfBoards are a hybrid between a skate-board and a Segway (People Mover), and allow golfers to ride in a way that feels similar to snowboarding or surng. Excitement and innovation are back at FSCC andgolf has never been this much fun!

We have begun the recruiting search for a new Head Golf Professional. Our Golf Recruiting Committee has compiled a list of necessary qualications, allowing us to evaluate each applicant with more clarity. I would personally like toexpress sincere gratitude to Steve Duemig, John Reynaud, Jason Ward, Anna Inglett and John Peck for their support, time and insight. Together, we will select a Head Golf Professional that meets our high standards. This person will be responsible for bringing fresh, innovative programs for players of all skill levels. In the interim Brianne Murphy, LPGA Professional, has graciously oered to assist us when we require professional support and we are thankful for her assistance and professionalism during this transition time.

In tennis, we are very happy to welcome Blane Sherk backto the club! Blane will be responsible for tennis court maintenance and, knowing Blane’s meticulous attention to detail, we expect the courts to return to top level in no time. In order to help Blane succeed, the club has taken on the major renovation of our tennis courts – over 200 feet of new PVC piping, a completely rewired electrical system, and the installation of new sprinkler heads. This has been a project that has been deferred for years. Upon completion, we will be able to properly water our nine courts on a daily basis. Between the physical improvements and Blane’s skill, we will keep our courts in tip-top shape for our members! Once the tennis area and court underground work is completed, we can move forward and reline the courts in September.

Labor Day will kick o the fall season with a scrumptious BBQ, children’s pool activities, live musical entertainment for your enjoyment, a Men’s Golf Association event, and a Tennis Round Robin Mixer. Mitchell has created a fall tennis program that will get you back in the game. Don’t miss your opportunity to sharpen your skills and have some fun! And college football fans can look forward to the WisconsinBadger Football Game watch party on September 5th at7 PM. Special thanks to Elliott Ross for bringing us hisalumni event and opening it to all members!

Looking ahead, we are shaking up the social scene for some old fashioned gambling fun – a Casino Night Member-Guest event is coming up on September 19th! And later in the month, we are hosting a Craft Beer Tasting event on the 22nd.

We recently hired Anita Fabrizio as our new Events and Membership Manager. Anita’s professional experience, extensive professional network, and enthusiasm will play a powerful role in FSCC’s transformation into one of Tampa Bay’s premier country clubs. In 2012 and 2013, Anita was named “Best in the Biz” by the Tampa Bay Business Journal for Wedding Coordination. She has extensive experience increasing membership and managing events at other clubs. We are thrilled to welcome Anita to the team, and she is equally excited to meet each and every member.

To showcase our improvements and increase membership, the club is sponsoring a Potential Member Open House Event on Saturday the 26th. This exciting event has beendesigned to entice social, golf, and tennis memberships. If you would like to attend the event, you must RSVP in advance with the name of the potential member you are bringing to the club. Further information has been provided in this issue and we will send reminders via email blast.

We are formalizing the Club Ambassadors Program, which has two objectives: rst, to encourage you to invite your friends, family, and business associates to join the fun here at FSCC! Secondly, we want to oer each of you the chance to win prizes for bringing fresh faces to join in the FSCCfamily. Each month, we will oer creative and uniqueincentives to those members who bring new members to the club. Details for September’s program are outlined in this issue. Anita and I remain available to support your eorts through membership tours, scheduling tee-times, lessons, and invitations to events and mixers for Golf, Tennis, and Social Membership.

Lastly, we are approaching the last aerication of theseason, scheduled for Labor Day week, September 8th through 11th. We are nalizing this work in anticipationof the Rush Event in October. For your convenience, weare now oering online reservations through your personal login to www.FSCC.club! Detailed instructions are included in this issue, and Meghan is available for a personal tutorial. We have many more surprises in store for our members this year and look forward to your continued support, feedback, and insights. We are continuing our journey toward becom-ing the premier country club in Tampa Bay!

With gratitude,

Tara Loughlin-IsaacDirector of OperationsFSCC

The theme of the golf course this summer? Tall grass, wet spots, scalped turf, and grass clumps. It’s a full-on battle with Mother Nature. The golf course received more than seventeen inches of rain in July and almost twenty in August. We are nally getting a break with the weather and are getting caught up with the mowing and detail work the rain prevented. The last “major” cultural practice of the summer will take place after Labor Day weekend. Core aerication is necessary to allow for nutrients and water to get to the grass roots and allows for gas exchange from the sub surface. Based on our soil testing, we strive to remove at least twenty percent of the organic matter and thatch from the greens each summer. This osets what the plant produces with our aerication and verticutting program. Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate with the last aerication of the year as we will core the greens with a half-inch size tine with closer hole spacings. After the last major aerication/coring of the greens, we will continue with monthly solid tining (vent-ing), verticutting, and topdressing to promote a healthy playing surface for the rest of the year. Important course enhancements include:

• The construction of a new chipping bunker that faces away from the clubhouse parking lot. Now, errant shots will no longer be a worry;

• Upgrades for the golf course irrigation system (such as new controllers for the eld satellites);

• A new central computer system down at the golf mainte-nance facility.

We appreciate everyone’s patience with the course the last cou-ple of months and hopefully Mother Nature will allow all to enjoy the course with minimal interruptions. Kind Regards, Mike StrubeGolf Course SuperintendentCell# 727-771-5205

To become a better putter, you have to get used to focusing on smaller targets. Unlike hitting full-swing shots, where your target may be a certain part of the fairway, the green or sometimes a part of the green, putting requires you to be far more precise. A great drill that I like to use for dialing it in is to take ve golf balls and put each of them on tees in a line (as you can see in the below photo). Space them near each other so they’re about a n-ger-width apart. Next comes the tricky part. I want you to roll a putt from about ve feet and try and hit each tee, one at a time, and knock o one ball at a time, in any order you want.

Putt it the Right Distance

This drill will do two things. First, it will help you focus on a target much smaller than the hole. Second, it will teach you to putt a lit-tle more aggressively since you need to make solid contact with each tee to knock the balls o. If you happen to hit the wrong tee, or knock more than one ball o, you need to start over and do it all again until all ve balls are knocked o, one at a time, in any order you choose.

Try this drill and not only will you become a more precise putter, the discipline this drill requires will help you focus better, as well.

(This month’s tip provided by Dale Abraham, PGA)

Watch the Ball

More than 90% of dips in our performance are caused by timingissues. We’re suddenly meeting the ball a little late or a little early. But it’s imperceptible. The best way to cure this is to pay strictattention to your eyes making solid contact with the ball allthe way into your strings.

Most coaches stress that you should see the ball impact your strings and then keep focused on that impact point for a tick afterward. This makes some people uncomfortable because most of us want to keep an eye on our sneaky partner. I know he stole my Gatorade money while I was busy watching the ball! But forget that. Just bet him that the loser has to buy the Gatorade and then beat the pants o of him by watching the ball!

This is the best quick x in the book. Period. Watching the ballintently goes long ways toward improving concentration andtiming. Let everything else go. Forget about the score, the shot,the point. Let your muscle memory take over, clear your mind,and watch that ball! This will generally lift the level of your whole game immediately. And it works for every shot in your arsenal.

Hello Members! My name is Anita Fabrizio and I’m originally from upstate New York. I moved to Florida in 1998 and it’s been my home ever since! I reside in Clearwater Beach and love everything about Florida – especially having accepted the Wedding, Events and Membership Manager Position at the Feather Sound Country Club. I’m very eager to get started as part of your team!

Seven years ago, I started Tampa Personal Concierge, hosting weddings, events, home management, and organizational services. During that time, I also handled the weddings and events at the Belleview Biltmore Country Club. I have the skill sets and the experience to ensure your events run smoothly.

I volunteer with the Projection Transition USA class at MacDill AFB once a month to help the transiting service men and women learn LinkedIn. I’m also a member of the Wounded Warrior Project, Working Women of Tampa Bay, Island Estates Women Club, and I hold a seat on the board with the Bay Area Concierge Association.

One of my favorite things is meeting new people, and I accomplish this through my love of boating, Buccaneer football, hockey, tennis, and golf. I played golf for a short time in NY until my focus changed to tennis, where I eventually was the Co-Captain on the USTA Women’s League. You never know when I may show up on the courts to play a friendly game or two!

Looking to the future, the new management team is working hard to make you proud of your club. We are planning fun and exciting events for your friends and family. The club wants the best for all of our members! I look forward to hearing your stories and getting to know all of you, as well as assisting you with all of your special events, meetings and tourna-ments.

Best regards,Anita
