Counselor Appreciation Week
Lackland ISD has four of the most outstanding
counselors in the state. We are extremely proud of
our counselors and honor them for their loyalty and
dedication to our students. From helping guide their
academic schedules to helping them with personal
issues, counselors play a critical role in the lives of our
students.

Several of Staceys seniors were honored during the midpoint of the basketball games this past Tuesday. Proud parents escorted the students to center court

Lackland ISD E-News 2nd grade Field Trip Page 10 of 11
www.lacklandisd.net Feb. 10, 2012
Second Grade Field Trip Last Thursday, Ms. Enrado's second grade students visited the San Antonio
Museum of Art. There they had an opportunity to view some of the jade pieces that were in a special exhibit and listen to a story about a jade carver. Under Ms. Bella
Merriam's instruction, the students had fun creating their own "jade" items out of sculpty clay. Afterwards, the children were treated to a special tour of the cricket-keeping exhibit upstairs in the Asian Gallery and were offered a glimpse of the storage
room where non-displayed museum artifacts are kept. The children were excited to view some smaller sculptures up close instead of looking at them behind glass thanks to Mr. John Johnston, the curator of the Asian Collection at the museum.
The students were disappointed that they were not able to explore more sections of the art museum, but it means that they can return with their families at another time. General admission to the museum is free to the public on Tuesdays
from 4 - 9 p.m. Every first Sunday of the month the museum sponsors family events. You will usually find Lackland Elementary art teacher Mr. Garcia there taking part in the activities. For more information visit http://samuseum.org/museum-
info/visitor-information.
