February 16, 2014 November 15, 2015 This event will be held at LORAC Plantation on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Carol and Steve Hudson, owners of this beautiful plantation, have graciously - again - volunteered to be our hosts for this event. There will be a morning shoot from 9:00 until 11:30 and an evening shoot from 2:00 until 4:30. In between shoots will be a succulent BBQ lunch (made from 2 whole hogs) served from 12:00 noon until 1:30. Lunch will consist of freshly cooked pork BBQ with homemade sauce, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, chips and out-of-this world, handmade desserts! (They are even better than homemade desserts!) This year, we have added Skeet Shooting for those who had rather shoot skeet than pheasants. The costs are: * $500 per pheasant shooter donation (Includes lunch for shooter and immediate family.) * $10 for lunch only per non-shooting adult * $5 for lunch only for children 12 and under * $50 per skeet shooter donation (Includes lunch for shooter only.) Please call the church office at 924-3169 and make reservations early. We can take only 60 pheasant shooters so it will be on a first-come, first- serve basis. We can take 100+ skeet shooters. Reservations will end on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Your check should be made out to Americus FUMC earmarked for Pheasant and Skeet Shoot and will be fully tax deductible. If you are unable to attend, we would welcome any and all donations for this project. This is a very large undertaking. Many of you have already volunteered to help, and it will take even more volunteers. If you feel led to help furnish some of the food or to be part of the actual hunt in any way, please call the church and let us know. We plan to partner with The Fuller Center and build a new home for a needy individual or family. The Missions Committee has selected an individual, Ms. Kim Mullis, to receive this home. She has met the Fuller Center's qualifications. You will hear much more about Ms. Mullis and the situations that she is living with in the days to come. We think you will agree she is most deserving of a new home. We are so excited to be a part of God's work-in-action and to help provide a decent home for someone in great need. With the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons just around the corner, wouldn't it be great to help someone, at this special time of the year, move into a new home! We hope and pray that we can count on each member of this great church to be a part of His great work. Thank you for joining hands with us and making this a reality. This event will be held at LORAC Plantation on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Carol and Steve Hudson, owners of this beautiful plantation, have graciously - again - volunteered to be our hosts for this event.

There will be a morning shoot from 9:00 until 11:30 and an evening shoot from 2:00 until 4:30. Please call the church office at 924-3169 and make reservations early. We can take only 60 pheasant shooters so it will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. We can take 100+ skeet shooters. Reservations will end on

Thursday, December 31, 2015.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bledsoe (Junay Rutherford), who were

married Saturday, November 7.

A very special “THANKS” from Sonny and Ginger Pinckard on behalf

of Harvest of Hope Food Pantry to Alex for the tremendous idea and

success of Haunt for Hunger. The more than 500 items will provide

food for almost 30 families. We appreciate Barbara Raines for hosting

lunch and all the parents who supported this outing. We believe all the

kids (and adults) enjoyed this outing and, hopefully, learned something

about sharing with those who have needs. God bless each of you.

Poinsettias for the Sanctuary Poinsettias will grace both worship services during Advent. If you wish to purchase a poinsettia in honor or in memory of a loved one, please complete this form, include your check, and drop it in the offering plate or mail to the church at 200 S Lee Street. Last Sunday Arca del Fuego celebrated Hispanic Heritage Sunday with 105 in attendance and members in native dress. Following worship the congregation enjoyed dinner at the church with Cuban, Guatemalan and Mexican dishes.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Our children have been busy bees packing Christmas shoe boxes. Wednesday morning the three and four year olds at Bright Beginnings packed 39 boxes and

ate a beautiful Christmas cake, a gift to the preschool packing party from Millie Trussell. Wednesday after church supper the children packed boxes with their and other’s donations. And filled boxes are still coming in as we pray God’s blessings on these shoeboxes this morning. Thanks to all who helped with this mission project.

Group Questions

November 15, 2015

Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-17

Sermon Series: Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God, part 3 1. One of the defining moments of the Passion of Jesus is presented in the Gospel of John when Jesus and Pontius Pilate meet

in the Antonia Fortress. Jesus says to Pilate, Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” Pilate then asks Jesus,

“What is Truth?” (John 18:37b) So, in your small group, answer Pilate’s question, “What is truth?”

2. How does righteousness relate to truth (as it is applies to the Armor of God)?

3. How does your understanding and practice of righteousness affect those around you?

4. Why is God so concerned with your mind? Why is Satan concerned about it?

5. What game plan do you need to put into practice in order to fill your mind with the truth?

6. If someone were to evaluate how well you have mastered your weapon -- the Word of God -- what would the evaluation say?

How would you try to improve the results of that evaluation?

7. Are you the only Bible that anyone might ever read? How so?

8. William Gurnall wrote, “We must not confide in the armor of God, but in the God of this armor, because all our weapons are

only mighty through God.” Please discuss this quote with your group members.
