February Resources:

Sweetsearch Biographies- offers profiles and outstanding search results for thousands of famous-or infamous-people from many walks of life, professions and countries, spanning many centuries. http://tinyurl.com/ybttmsh

Weekly Reader Online- This is an online version of Weekly Reader about the Winter Olympics http://tinyurl.com/yeu28nr

Kerpoof- I have showed this website to many people over the last couple of years. The kids can create movies, posters, cards, etc. and they can be for Valentine’s Day or they could create something about a story character. Great site! http://www.kerpoof.com/

Valentine’s Links- Check out these random Valentine’s Day sites.

Other Resources

AOL for Kids- This site has stories that are read out loud to the kids. What I have seen

so far has been impressive. http://tinyurl.com/ybd5jcc

Animoto- I have used this site a few times to create “MTV style” videos from your own pictures. It is very simple to upload your pictures and choose your music and Animoto does the rest! http://animoto.com/

Two typing activities-

Math TV- This site has videos on how to do math problems. http://mathtv.com/

Math moves U- I think the kids would love to move around on this website and explore math. Instead of gaming websites that aren’t that educational, set them up with the site (no sign in required). http://www.mathmovesu.com/

Prongo- Another site with free games and activities for the students to use. http://www.prongo.com/

Etrade baby- Just for fun! You can type in text and the etrade babies you have seen in the commercials will say the words you typed. http://www.etradebabymail.com/

***I know that you don’t have a lot of time to have your students use these websites with Odyssey, Acuity, Writing Roadmap, etc. Please feel free to copy any of these sites you like into your own newsletters that you send home.
