OUR LIQUOR LICENCE STATES NO ONE EXCEPT STAFF ARE TO BE IN THE BAR AREA (LOUNGE/SPORTS ROOM) BEFORE

THE DESIGNATED OPENING TIME OF 11 AM The only exception is if you are required to be in that area to at-

tend a meeting or are carrying out business on behalf of the Branch.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Dear Comrades: Wow is what I have to say! What an excellent start to our year! We have been very busy with our hall and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the volunteers and staff for their help in making our Legion a success story.

Remember to invite your friends to our Branch to either enjoy a lunch, dinner and a beverage. Let your friends know of our upcoming events so they will be a success.

If you have not renewed your 2015 membership, my question to you is why? We need all our members.

I would like to advise the membership that due to increases in beer prices from the breweries, we will be increasing all our Beer prices by approximately 3% effective February 1, 2015 as discussed at the January General meeting. Lest we Forget Norm Scott

    CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

Life is a gift. We live in the present!

As we consider our actions, let us consider our Heavenly Father and His great gift of salvation.

Hebrews 12:28 (NIV) “28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.”

It is with great alarm that we view the actions of many

people who proclaim to do evil in the name of God.

    1John 4:8

“Whoever does not love does not know God, be-

    cause God is love.”

    Blessings!

    Branch Editorial

Comrades This upcoming November is the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Legion in Winni-peg in 1925. At the time, veteran’s organizations were founded to assist returning veterans of the first world war and rapidly grew into the amazing non profit organization we see today. To commemorate ,this a special medal has been struck and after June 1st every member will be able to proudly wear it. It can be ordered thru the office. With the recent elections there are still some outstanding changes occurring here at the branch. There are several challenges to overcome and any assistance or ideas to help things along from you the members is always greatly appreciated. Our January 1st Levee was an outstanding success, and from what I was told by other members we had a better turnout than the previous year - which is outstanding. Since the Christmas holidays I have been seeing more new faces around the branch, which is excellent. Please make all of our guests welcome in what I consider is the best and fastest growing branch in BC/Yukon Command. Let’s not forget Valentine’s Day is coming up and make it a special occasion for your spouse or significant special person in your life. Lest We Forget Richard Walker CD

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #91 Ladies Auxiliary

November & December Report for the February Bulletin

We are very pleased to welcome our new member Lynda Kennedy to our LA we now have 26 members which includes 6 Life Members.

We have had a very busy last couple of months. On Nov 16th 2014 we held our annual Christmas Craft Fair with 36½ tables and a great turn out, thanks to all of you for your support. Thanks to Jack for setting up the tables and chairs. We helped to decorate the Christmas trees for the hall, foyer, and lounge it was a lot of fun. We had a nice Christmas lunch prepared by Gail and her kitch-en ladies. At the luncheon meeting we presented membership pins: 5 year pins to Shauna, Pat, Donna, Tammy and Bea, 10 year pins to Rita and Ruth, and a 40 year pin to Gail Graham. One of the high-lights was presenting Ladies Auxiliary South Vancouver Island Zone Commander Pat Hanscom with her Life Membership; we were all very pleased as it was well earned.

We have been helping at the meat draws and are so glad that more of our members are coming out to join in the fun.

Pat Carr visited our adopted vet Marjorie on her Birthday and gave her a Birthday cupcake which she thoroughly enjoyed.

We are busy planning our Spring Craft Fair and Garage Sale for March 22, 2015. We will have 33 tables sold. Please write the date on your calendar so you can join us.

Respectfully Submitted Ways and Means Trudine

    January Shuffleboard

On Tuesday January20, we had a visit from 3 ladies who had come to the branch as guests of Kathie. It was their first time ever to play shuffleboard and they really seemed to enjoy themselves. As a matter of fact, one of the ladies and Yvonne won third prize. It would be nice if they decide to return in the future. Like so many branches, we have lost a lot of members over the past couple of years so new players are always welcome.
