“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” - Ephesians 1:4

The Apostle Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, writes from his prison cell a letter to the Ephesians (which was intented to be circulated among many churches) that offers a breathtaking over-view of the whole of the Christian’s calling. We’ll find here teachings about Christ, the nature of church, salvation, how we are to live, how we are to live as family, spiritual warfare, and how God relates to us. Let's Do This! Bryan Quinn In January, we set out for the snow during the Martin Luther King Jr. day off of school for a Snow Day. The plan was simple, head up highway 80 until we find snow and destroy it by having an awesome time, and needless to say it was awesome! We played to our hearts content and then we played some more. We found some fresh snow on untampered hillsides and we created our own personal luge. What a great time! Next month is a big month for the Youth Group as we will be accepting signups for our Mission Trip to San Francisco, having a Valentine's day dinner, and having our very first fundraiser for our Big Summer Blow-out, so Let's Do This! God is doing some amazing things in our Youth Group and in our Church. Please be praying and LET’S DO THIS!

UPCOMING EVENTS Valentine's Dinner Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 5:30 PM—8:00 PM Come dressed to impress! This is an event that you don't want to miss out on! Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raiser Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 5:30 PM—8:00 PM Come eat and socialize with the Youth Group as we put together a Spaghetti Dinner for a donation that will go toward Summer Events including our Mission Trip to San Francisco and the Youth Leadership Conference. Mission Trip Permission Slip and Deposit Are Due Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 5:30 PM In order to ensure a commitment to the Mission Trip to San Francisco, we are requiring a $20 non-refundable deposit along with the permission slip by February 21. Ask for a Mission Trip Packet if you have not already received one.

A Sunday Morning Breakfast to Remember! On Sunday morning, Feb. 7th at 8:00 AM, we’ll be serving a grand

breakfast for all the congregation and our homeless guests in the social hall. Please come on out a bit early for great food and even better

fellowship. We’ll then invite our guests to worship with us!

FAMILY MINISTRY "Love is in the air." February is a great month to remember that since God loved us so much he sent his only son it's our turn to love others the way he loves them. The Clubhouse memory verse is some-thing Jesus taught his followers, "Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12. So simple, so hard but still our calling each and every day. Happy Valentine's Day! Coming in February to KidZone First Steps & Clubhouse: Our lessons will take a nice deep look at LOVE. God shows his love in so many ways but the first one is forgiveness. Jesus loved everyone and we will learn about Zacchaeus, the woman at the well, the woman who was to be stoned and some lepers who were touched. Jesus broke every taboo when it came to loving others. Jesus loved everyone and he calls us to do the same. Adventurers & Edge: We will continue to Power Up our self-control in February. We will also be studying our spiritual gifts. Edge (4th-6th grade) will also be able to enjoy a Valentine's Day party on February 14, 5:30 - 8:00 (at the same time as Youth Group) so parents can plan a night out together! Family Ministry Team: We are still in great need of people to join us. We meet the first Monday of the month from 5:30-6:30. Our February 1 meeting will be dealing with the 2016 calendar so it would be great for parents to attend so we can hear from you before we plan. Let Pat Morris or Debi know if you would like to join us. Homework Club: Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who stepped up to help with Home-work Club. Be sure to tell your friends how much fun it was and keep on participating. We have a great group of young people.

In Christ’s love,

Debi Schrader Interim Director of Family Ministries Email:[email protected]

Following the January book study on our Spiritual Gifts, a Bible study on the book of Ephesians. It all begins with the first three chapters on February 3 through March 13th . After a short break for the sea-son of Lent, we’ll resume on April 3 through May 1st and finish the final three chapters. Sign-ups will begin on the 3rd of January and the study will use the book by N. T. Wright on Ephesians which is a part of his series on Everyone Bible Studies and will available for purchase starting on the 3rd during Social Hour, OR you are welcome to purchase your own copy or even download a Kindle version. The folks who will be taking the sign-ups will be able to give you more information if needed and they will let you know when and where the small group studies will take place. Won’t you join us for this adventure through Ephesians?

The Scripture Inside of You… Now Shared! Soon we will be hosting many guests within our facility in order to fill their bellies, give them a place out of the rain, and provide them a bit of dignity. But what if we could fill their souls, as well? What if we filled their souls? If you would like to provide an encouraging Scripture passage that we could place in their breakfast/lunch bags we would welcome it! If you would like to provide a brief devotional that would inspire and encourage them from Scripture (about 10 minutes worth) that would be fantastic! Please send Scripture passages or devotion requests (please note preferred/available nights between Jan. 31 through February 3 and February 5-6) to Pastor Mark at: [email protected]

Join us for an Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, February 10, at 7:00 PM here at

CPC. A time of repentance, reflection, and commitment awaits you.

Do you know how the pledges you present on Sunday mornings are

confidentially processed and prepared for deposit?

Dedicated church members volunteer their time as

counters for up to an hour on Tuesday mornings. We

are now looking for additional volunteers to serve a few times each month. Please contact

Diane Feinstein at (707) 592-9512 if you are will-

A Thank You for Great Service to our Congregation Ben Marianno has been running the sanctuary sound system with his wife, Lynne running projection by his side for the last couple of years. He is stepping down, but we want to thank him for all that he has done for us on Sunday mornings, during memorial services, and special events, such as concerts. We love all our volunteers and want to thank you, Ben!

Please mark these dates. Prayer Teams will be meeting Feb. 21st after the second service for lunch and a training session with Sabrina Boltz. We welcome all who have a calling to pray for others. We will then have a second training session Feb. 24th at 7 pm in the Social Hall right after group prayer which begins at 6:30 pm. God calls us to pray for others privately and in a group. One key reason to pray is because God has commanded us to pray. If we are to be obedient to His will, then prayer must be part of our life

in Him. Another reason for prayer is to worship and praise the Lord. Come, join us.

Here are a few things to make note of for the El Nino Emergency Sheltering Project: Guest Interaction Guidelines Please only touch after asking permission (and only touch same gender guests). Please pray with a guest only after asking permission. Please make every effort to make eye contact with our guests. This helps to reinforce their worth as an individual. A smile goes a long way. Please avoid opposite gender witnessing (and touching). Woman to woman and man to man is best for everyone involved. Please do not give guests personal information, i.e. phone number, home address, etc. Please do not give guests money. All of their essential needs are being provided by the Mission. Our case managers are working with our guests to help them locate employment or other means of support. Please do not leave personal items unsupervised at any time. If you notice anything unusual, please notify the Shelter Shift Supervisor immediately. The Shelter Staff is trained on how to evaluate the situation and enforce the Shelter rules. Please don’t make assumptions about the guests. Allow them to tell you about themselves and tell you what they are needing (some may want to interact more than others). Please don’t make promises that you cannot absolutely keep. Please be flexible – we are going to learn a lot! And…enjoy our guests – they will be at least as much a blessing to you as you are to them!
