For more information read the young members profile. We attended the Boonah Street parade and joined other members of Clan Forsyth and other Clan representatives from the Fassifern in the Fassifern scots section to march in the parade. It is a wonderful parade so if you have the chance to join us this year that would be great as this is an annual event. Our latest event was the Clan cent auction to raise funds to support the publication of our Clan journal. Whilst quite a few attendees were clan committee members and their family or friends it was an enjoyable event. Thank you to the members who attended to contribute, it was disappointing that more Clan members were not able to attend. This situation presents an issue if our committee are contributing with goods, effort and then financially, resulting in multiple contributions to the Clan on a regular basis. If future events are to be successful we require more member participation to address this issue, therefore we are asking members to encourage others to join Clan Forsyth to ensure the future of the clan. Note on your calendar the upcoming Clan events of the Annual Clan dinner and activities day coming up in April and May. I will be looking forward to the stories of some of our Clan members at the dinner. Grab your family and some friends and book a table for the dinner and we look forward to seeing you there and catching up for a chat. Wishing you good health and happiness, Val Ashton President Members Julie Lee, Bev Kerkin, Val Ashton Jacinta Ashton, Rhonda Noe and Jacinta’s friend prepare to march in the annual Boonah Christmas parade.

Clan Journal – Mar 2017

A message from Val Ashton – President Clan Forsyth Qld

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the 2017 year with a big bang for some of our young members of the Clan. For more information read

the young members profile.

We attended the Boonah Street parade and joined other members of Clan Forsyth and other Clan representatives

from the Fassifern in the Fassifern scots section to march in the parade. It is a wonderful parade so if you have the

chance to join us this year that would be great as this is an annual event.

Our latest event was the Clan cent auction to raise funds to support the publication of our Clan journal. Whilst quite

a few attendees were clan committee members and their family or friends it was an enjoyable event. Thank you to

the members who attended to contribute, it was disappointing that more Clan members were not able to attend.

This situation presents an issue if our committee are contributing with goods, effort and then financially, resulting in

multiple contributions to the Clan on a regular basis. If future events are to be successful we require more member

participation to address this issue, therefore we are asking members to encourage others to join Clan Forsyth to

ensure the future of the clan.

Note on your calendar the upcoming Clan events of the Annual Clan dinner and activities day coming up in April and

May. I will be looking forward to the stories of some of our Clan members at the dinner.

Grab your family and some friends and book a table for the dinner and we look forward to seeing you there and

catching up for a chat.

Wishing you good health and happiness,

Val Ashton

President

Members Julie Lee, Bev Kerkin, Val Ashton Jacinta

HAVE YOU SEEN OUR CLAN FORSYTH WEBSITE?

What an exciting site it is, with lots of content and interesting articles. Thanks to Len Forsyth we have our very own

extensive Clan Forsyth website. Len is the webmaster who built this website and throughout his very busy schedule

manages this site for us. He could use your assistance with this task. Len does not have the availability to proof read

the site regularly so would ask for assistance to let us know if something is not quite right. If you could send your

findings to [email protected] that would be appreciated.

If you have content to add to our website send it to Len at the email address above.

Boonah Christmas Parade Clan members joined the parade through the main street of Boonah for the Christmas Parade. It was a wonderful evening and great parade for the families. Pictured below: Jake Kerkin grandson

Young Members Profiles If there is a special young person that you’d like to let us know about, please drop us a line with their details, so that we can not only share our past but also being to celebrate our future generations. Please email – [email protected] Congratulations to Kaitlyn Moore, the owner of O’Connell Agencies (OCA) on the outstanding Coal Miners Memorial constructed by OCA under Kait’s vision and innovative formwork design and execution. The Ipswich and Rosewood Coalminers Trust liaised with Kaitlyn to produce this fine memorial at Limestone Hill in Ipswich. The design accurately replicates the coal seams of the area. Kaitlyn was the winner of the 2015 Crystal Vision Diversity Award, and one of the judges for the 2016 Crystal Vision Awards. Her ongoing work has expanded in many diverse directions as she supplies the formwork industry with her PVC ocatube used in many high rises in SE Qld. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for this talented Forsyth descendant.

Kaitlyn received an Australia Day medal for her efforts. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for this talented Forsyth descendant. Kaitlyn Moore is the daughter of our very own Clan Historian Lyndall Hill who also received a special award recently being awarded the Australia Day medal for her letters to Santa project. Lyndall is involved in many worthwhile projects and we look forward to hearing more about them in the future. We are very fortunate to have Lyndall Hill in our fold with the outstanding work Lyndall is doing with our genealogy with the assistance of our former historian Beth Forsyth and we thank Beth for her kind donation of time and information/documents.

A LITTLE HUMOUR A very popular man dies in Aberdeen and his old widow wishes to tell all his friends at once, so she

goes to the Aberdeen Evening Express and says, 'I'd like tae place an obituary fur ma late husband.'

The man at the desk says, 'OK, how much money dae ye have?'

The old woman replies, '£5' to which the man says, 'Ye won't get many words for that but write

something and we'll see if it's ok.'

So the old woman writes something and hands it over the counter.

The man reads 'Peter Reid, fae Kincorth, deid.' He feels sad at the abruptness of the statement and

encourages the old woman to write a few more things, saying, 'I think we cud allow 3 or 4 more words

fer ye money.'

The old woman ponders and then adds a few more words and hand the paper over the counter again.

The man then reads - 'Peter Reid, fae Kincorth, deid. Ford Escort for sale.'
