Happy 53rd Anniversary to the Platteville Regional Chamber!
Our Ambassador Committee and Chamber staff has been very busy readying everything for our Annual Celebration and Arthur J. Virtue Awards Night which is being held on Friday, February 19th. This is truly one of the most important events that we host each year, a time when Chamber members come together to celebrate the accomplishments of our organization and look toward the future. We are celebrating our 53rd anniversary as an organization, and we should all be very proud of the incredible amount of positive things that have taken place within our City. Our theme is “Celebrating UW-Platteville’s Sesquicentennial” and I think you will be very pleased to see what the University has planned for a review of the past 150 years! The deadline to RSVP is Friday, February 12th.
Along with celebrating with our members, we will be presenting the annual Arthur J. Virtue Awards – Business Persons of the Year; Community Spirit Award; Community Service Award; Outstanding Award in the Field of Agriculture; Youth Spirit Award, President’s Award for Outstanding Chamber Service and Lifetime Service Award. Please plan to attend and support the recipients of these exceptional recognitions.
We are also recruiting new members with the goal of increasing our membership significantly by the end of 2016! As chamber members, we would like to ask that you help us reach that goal by encouraging businesses who are not currently chamber members to become members. The more members we have, the more promotion and programming we will be able to do which will all benefit each and every one of you. As you are doing your daily business, ask businesses if they are a chamber member. If they are not, ask them to consider joining and then let me know and I will be more than happy to follow up with them. The member-to-member connection is a strong one! Like our logo says “better together”!
A new event, the “Southwest Music Festival” is aggressively being planned for July 30th as the grand finale of our Hometown Festival Week. Due to the fact that it is new, will become an annual event and has the capability of bringing hundreds, not thousands of visitors to our community, we are hosting a community information meeting on Tuesday, March 1st at 6:00PM at the Mound City Bank community room. We want everyone to hear about this exciting new event and help us make it a success for everyone. Please mark your calendars to attend.
2016 is off to a great start and we are looking to another positive year for the Platteville community. I am confident that by staying on track with our goals, the Chamber will help drive business to each and every member!

CLA: Cultivating the Growth of Community-Minded Leaders in Southwest Wisconsin
CLA is a leadership development program designed to help expand the amount of volunteers serving on and leading committees, boards, planning teams and work groups in Grant, Lafayette, and Iowa counties. CLA teaches community members to find their voice. As one 2015 alumni stated “CLA has changed my life! During the 6 months of attending the classes, I have grown both professionally and personally. It has given me the opportunity to understand not only myself on a deeper level, but others as well. I have become more insightful, purposeful and grateful as a leader which has already resulted in many successes.”
