Message from the President

Hi fellow CGCC members

Whew, made it through my first meeting, have to admit I was a little nervous, but that

passed quickly.

We are half way through winter, at this point I can't hardly wait until spring arrives. I dusted

off the 05 for the General Meeting, it is always amazing to me when I get into the Vette after

a couple of months just how good it feels to drive it. I have also started to get the 96 ready

for the show season, it really helps to have a heated shop to work in.

I was told we had a great turnout for our first event of the year, breakfast at the buttered

biscuit in Bonney lake. I am sorry I missed it.

There is a lot more coming up, check the Event Calendar in the Under Glass for upcoming

events. As a side note to that, Jack Curtis is looking for members to help out with 5 Star, I

encourage all members to chip in and help.

A special thanks to Dennis B. for inviting Lyman Gifford from the Clover Park Foundation to

our meeting it was a real eye opener for me to hear all of the things they do.

See you all soon

Bob

NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM Celebrating 30 Years of Callaway Corvettes

In 1987 Corvettes got a little faster thanks to engineers at Callaway Cars. What started in the garage of Reeves Callaway’s Old Lyme, Connecticut home has grown into a company with three locations (Connecticut, California and Germany) and four core business units: Callaway Engineering, Callaway Cars, Callaway Carbon and Callaway Competition. In celebration of Callaway’s 40th anniversary, and their 30th anniversary of their relationship with Corvette, the National Corvette Museum’s Exhibit Hall is displaying 15 examples of this high-performance Corvette. The exhibit officially opened Friday, January 13 and ends May 5, 2017.

Upcoming events at the Museum: 2017 NCM Bash Sponsored by Michelin - April 27-29, 2017

Kickoff of the NCM on site event season – Bash traditionally marks the rollout of the next model year Corvette; the place where you can see them up close and in detail. Bash 2017 will provide enthusiasts the chance to see the new 2018 Corvette Stingray up close as well as getting all the latest information about the all new 7th Generation Corvette. Seminars will feature speakers discussing ‘What’s new in the 2018 model year’, the award winning body structure, as well as using your 7th generation navigation sys-tem. As in past years there will be a large contingent of GM engineers and designers from Warren Tech Center, and the Bowling Green Assembly Plant ready to answer your every question. Back this year will be the Corvette Racing team with Doug Fehan giving a seminar. Also back to Bash is the LT4 Engine build-ing demonstration by BGAP Rob Nichols and Brian Lee. Continued Next Page

Returning activities include a seminar and classroom sessions by Corvette Certified Tech-nician Paul Koerner. Enjoy guided road tours, two celebrity choice car shows, the Ladies’ Oasis, and the expanded Garage Party with women of the GM Corvette Team. The ladies will cover all aspects of Corvettes including maintenance, engineering and even high per-formance driving (ladies only). Some returning activities include Golf with GM Team. Go to http://www.corvettemuseum.org/event/michelin-ncm-bash/?instance_id=563 to register.

Museum in Motion: Pacific Northwest Passage

The World's Largest Moving Automotive Event Often referred to as the world’s largest moving automotive event, the National Corvette Caravan is a celebration of America’s Sports Car, culminating in Bowling Green, Ken-tucky for the anniversary celebration of the National Corvette Museum. Hosted only once every five years, the next event is slated for Labor Day Weekend 2019 (August 28-31) and will mark the Museum’s 25th Anniversary. The Northwest draft agenda:

Day 1: We will gather in both Seattle/Kirkland area as well as Portland to kick off the caravan. I am still working on the logistics for both cities and plan to be on-site for the Seattle/Kirkland kick off. The plan is for Portland and Seattle/Kirkland caravans to meet at McCurley’s in Tri-Cities for lunch and then on to Lewiston, Idaho for the evening. I have contacted Ilene at Valley Corvettes to see if they can help with the first night festivi-ties. More to come on this. Day2: The caravan will travel across scenic Highway 12 past Lodo to Missoula and spend the night in Bozeman. I am still working on a hotel and lunch stop. Day 3: The caravan will continue on I-90 to Rapid City, SD which is a departure from the 2014 caravan. We will be meeting with another large group on day 5 (outlined below). Day 4: The caravan will continue on I-90 to Sioux Falls, SD. No further details are availa-ble but there are some great side roads that can be traveled through Badlands National Park that look pretty interesting, especially in a Vette! I am looking to see if we can do something with the North Dakota group which is part of the larger North Central group. Day 5: We will travel to Wisconsin Dells, WI and meet up with the North Central group. I have spoken with Ed Saari and he has some great things planned including a happy hour, catered dinner, and an opportunity for hot laps at a nearby track (not in that order!), along with sharing out passion with other Corvette enthusiasts. Day 6: We will travel with the North Central group to Bloomington, Il for a catered lunch at Leman’s Chevy City, part of Sam Leman Automotive Group. Then on to Effing-ham, Il for a catered dinner at Mid America Motor Works. Day 7: We will stage at Mid America Motor Works and travel to the Red Wagon Restau-rant for lunch where we will again stage until we receive clearance to leave for Bowling Green.
