We also run a charity fancy dress ride each year, so we’re looking forward to seeing what outfits the dogs and their owners come up with!” Jennie Allen of Bayley & Sage, the delectable deli on Wimbledon Village’s High Street that has served the community for over 20 years, adopted her dog, Bailey, after she had been cancer free for one year after her second diagnosis. A big supporter of Woof Wimbledon, Jennie says; I am supporting this event as it combines two of my great loves - dogs and walking on Wimbledon Common, as well as supporting a charity that has a deep significance to me. I have been treated at the Royal Marsden for two occurrences of ovarian cancer and, having participated in trials, I value, and have indeed benefitted from, research into cancer. Peacock & Co Solicitors has supported the local residential and business community since 1991 with its friendly and reliable legal advice. Kim Peacock took the helm as Managing Partner in 2017. “We aim to build a close relationship with all our clients and to assist them with all legal aspects of their personal life and business interests. Many of our clients come to us for one service, for example the conveyancing when they move home, and then they come back for another, such as the preparation of their will. Word spreads around their network and we end up acting for their relatives and friends. As a result, when walking down the High Street, there is always someone to bump into and catch up with, which is what makes working in the Village so enjoyable.”

The firm opened its second office in Epsom in 2017.

For those who finish the walk promptly, and weather permitting, there will be a free, taster ‘doga’ class at 11.30am on the day of the sponsored walk, held at the registration/end point. It will be led by Paola’s Body Barre (PBB), who provide Wimbledon Village with incredibly popular ballet inspired exercise classes.

“Doga is a fun way of combining time with your dog and practicing the disciple of yoga,” says Paola di Lanzo, Founder of PBB. “It helps to support the natural bond we already with our dogs”.

For those who can’t make the Saturday 3rd March taster, there will be two classes held on the morning of Sunday 4th March at the PBB studio, next to the Rose & Crown. Classes will be £5 per person and per dog taking part, with all proceeds being donated to Cancer Research UK. Times are 10am or 11am. Contact [email protected] for more information and to book.

Valentine’s Treat from Bayley & Sage

Declare your love this year with cheese! From a rich and creamy cheddar heart from Godminster, a beautiful hand moulded heart shaped goats cheese: Coeur de Chevre - lightly salty and just melts in the mouth, to one of the oldest cheeses from France: Neufchatel – a heart shaped, soft, rich and buttery cheese. We also have a cheese that has

been steeped in rose wine for two months: Ubriaco Pinot Rose – giving it a delicious flavour, a little sharpness and a hint of fruit. Not forgetting the bubbles – a fabulous pink champagne from Andre Clouet: elegant and creamy with great depth, delicious aromas of hazelnuts, pears and honey. We know you are going to love them all! Happy Valentine’s Day!www.bayley-sage.co.uk 60 High Street, SW19 5EE
