It’s February – Fall in Love with a Book!

The Vagabonds: The Story of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison’s 10-Year Road Trip by Jeff Guinn recounts the history of these two iconic Americans whose annual summer sojourns introduced the road trip to our culture and made the automobile an essential part of modern life. This is a wonderful story of two American giants and the transformation of the country.

The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri puts a human face on the Syrian war with the story of an immigrant beekeeper and his wife. The novel goes below the headlines and tells a true story with subtlety and power. Using a troubled but engaging narrator, this becomes a moving story of Syrian refugees.

Lady Clementine by Marie Benedict tells the story of the ambitious woman who stood beside Winston Churchill. She became the partner who did not flinch through the sweeping darkness of war, and who would not surrender either to expectations or to enemies. It is a thoughtful behind-the-scenes look into the private world of a brilliant woman whose impact and influence on world events deserves to be acknowledged.

Moloka’i by Alan Brenner tells of the struggle of a Hawaiian woman who contracts leprosy as a child in Honolulu during the 1890s and is deported to the island of Moloka'I, where she will live in a quarantined settlement. This historical novel of early 20th Century Hawaii is rich in lore and customs of the islands.

Last Woman in the Forest by Diane Les Becquets weaves together a story about the study of wildlife with detailed descriptions of nature and of rescue dog training, survival techniques, and the life of conservationists into a well-crafted thriller. This thriller will pull you in from the very first page and keep you guessing until the very end.
