Harlem Renaissance DisplayHarlem Renaissance Display

In honor of Black History month, the CCA HSLibrary hosted a Harlem Renaissance displayfrom the Cedar Rapids African American HistoryMuseum.

The display gave a glimpse into Harlem of the1920s to mid-1930s. As was a cultural center, thisNew York City neighborhood drew black writers,artists, musicians, photographers, poets, andscholars during a time when racism was rampantand economic opportunities were scarce. Thedisplay included: ● Harlem Renaissance artpictures ● Clothing ● Cab Calloway’s Hepster’sDictionary ● DVDs ● Jazz and blues CD’s ●Fiction and nonfiction books

Please follow updates for the Forevergreen Roadconstruction project on the Clear Creek AManaCommunity School District Facebook and Twitterpages. This project is expected to last into the2019 road construction season.

Forevergreen Rd will be closed todayWednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, so crews can drivepiers for the interchange bridge at Interstate 380.The closure is expected to begin at 9 a.m. andlast through the day. (This work was rescheduledfrom Tuesday, Feb. 20.)

Drivers are asked to use caution around the worksite, allow extra travel time, and find alternativeroutes when possible.

We will be reviewing our committeeaction plan at this meeting. Having healthychoices at school helps keep our children healthyand ready to learn. The school wellness policyhelps our school create an action plan fornutrition and physical activity at school. Parentscan share their opinions and help make sure thepolicy is meeting the needs of our students. First CCA Prom Dress ShowcaseFirst CCA Prom Dress Showcaseon March 21on March 21

The CCA High School is organizing a Prom DressShowcase on March 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM inthe HS Commons. This is an opportunity foranyone to donate or consign a gently worn formalor prom dress and allow others to purchase adress for $50 and under or Free.

Dresses can be dropped off at the High Schoolmain office from 7:30 AM to 4:00 Monday - Fridayand up to 3:00 PM the day of the show. Noteoffices are closed spring break, March 12-16.

CCA Prom will be held May 5, 2018.

The cast will be joined by Belle from Beauty & theBeast and all guests are welcome to have theirpicture taken with Belle.

Free-will donations will go to support Music andFine Arts at CCA.

The High School Dance Team will be performingall of their routines from the season, along withguest performances from Lone Tree High School,the CCA Jr. Dance Team, CCA Middle SchoolDance Team, our CCA Cheerleaders, and abaton routine by Sophia Aguirre. This event neverdisappoints and is perfect for all ages.

Admission is $5 per person with doors openingat 6 :30 PM and performances starting a t 7 6 :30 PM and performances starting a t 7PMPM. We can't wait to see you there!

CCA's Show Choir, Vocal Dynamics, made thefinals at the MO Show competition at CedarRapids Washington and received 5th runner up.The competition featured nearly two dozenmiddle and high school groups from Iowa, Illinoisand South Dakota! They also received an awardfor "Most effective use of costuming." VocalDynamics has one more competition on February24 at Central Lee High School in Donnellson.

Over 20 8th grade athletes signed a letter of intentto play CCA High School football this fall. This is anew tradition started by Head Coach Bakker and

it was well received by these young athletes andparents.

The Amana Pool celebrated a reopening with anopen house early February. Community membersof all ages enjoyed the updated pool thanks tofunding from the CCA Foundation and the CCACommunity School District. The pool is used forswim teams, High School conditioning for varioussports, private parties, swim lessons and more.
