The Lord blessed us with an
incredibly beautiful day for our
Ultimate Frisbee Tournament
on Thursday! The students
played hard and enjoyed the
special event under the warm
sunshine and fresh air. We
played round-robin style and
added up the points for wins
and losses. There was a clear
winner, but the remaining three
houses tied. We had to then go
to the point differential to
determine the places of the
remaining teams. Here is the
final results:
• 1st Leiden
• 2nd Austerfield
• 3rd Scrooby
• 4th Plymouth
Congratulations! I saw a real
spirit of determination, good
will, and sportsmanship among
the students. Well done!

Please pray for God’s supply
regarding specific needs:
1) Planning and execution of
the many tasks that make
Bradford a special place!
2) Scholarship fund. We have
an increasing need to
continue making Bradford
Academy accessible to all
families who desire a
CHRISTIAN AND CLASSICAL
education in Mebane.
3) Our HIGH SCHOOL program
is growing with the addition
of 10th grade next year!
4) Growing athletic program.
Our athletic program is an
excellent avenue for our
children to grow in body
and mind, but there are
obstacles that require
wisdom and resources.
5) Plans for facilities to house
our growing school. We are
looking to secure a location
for a second campus to
house our upper school for
2017/2018. Please pray.

rolling dice! We took one day for test corrections, then
continued with more factoring of trinomials.
Omnibus I (7th): We tackled Plato’s Phaedo this week,
discussing Socrates’ view of the life of the true philosopher,

many other things. We then compared all of these ideas to the
Christian worldview, finding much to agree with in Socrates
and some to put away.
Omnibus II (8th): We find ourselves in Shakespeare’s Macbeth

audacity to turn down King George III’s offer of
knighthood...because it wasn’t good enough for him.
PE: Ultimate Frisbee!
Mr . Ham i lt o n ( 9 t h G r a d e H o m e r o o m )
Art: We continued our acrylic paintings and have made
progress! We expect this project to take awhile since it is quite a
challenge. We also took time this week to look at the works of
Benjamin West and study his life. We began drawing a timeline
on the whiteboard and we were amazed at how closely his
intersected John James Audubon and Mary Cassat’s lives. They
all were born in PA, spent significant time in Philadelphia,
travelled to the U.K. and probably saw each other’s work on
display. Mary Cassat's, quarter’s artist, was a few years later,
but likely would have studied Benjamin West’s work as she
touring Europe.
Literature: We finished A Tale of Two Cities this week with a
seminar focusing on the characters, symbols, themes, and plot
of this fantastic novel. We then began our study of Abraham
Lincoln and his speeches.
History: This week we continued looking at the Industrial
Revolution and its effects on Western civilization. We then
picked up the history of the United States from the end of the
revolution until just before the Civil War, examining the many
growing pains our nation experienced.
Theology: In theology class this week we examined the debate
over slavery and state’s rights in our expanding nation.
Logic: This week the students continued using the Laws of
Replacement as a means to develop proofs. We seem to have
run into some challenging problems so we have slowed down.
Never-the-less, the students should be ready for a test on
Wednesday.
Spanish: The teacher has enjoyed reading students' English
drafts for their country projects. Now students will translate
them into Spanish. Ask your student to
sing the children’s song, "Los Pollitos," and
to share Mateo 22:37-39. On Wednesday
there was a quiz on stem changing verbs.
Friday will begin a new set of irregular
verbs (flash card time!!) and hands on
exploration of Spanish Bibles!
Biology: The students took their second
test of the quarter, which was an
introduction to molecular biology. We
continued with this topic, learning about
mitosis and meiosis.
From the Teacher’s Desk (Continued)
Geometry: We are now studying relationships involving
circles. This involves things like learning new terminology,
determining angle measures between secant and tangent
lines, and determining arc measures.
