STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (material wealth).” MATTHEW 6:24 For many people, God and money run “neck and neck” as their first priority. Making money and spending money becomes the center of their life and they actually become a slave to money. The solu-tion– become more generous. Giving money to church and charity frees us from slavery to money and from making money a “god” before God.
DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE!
Generosity. Could there be a more perfect Gospel for understanding generosity and the manner in which God provides for all of our needs? The heart of gen-erosity is seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Mt. 6:33). We seek God and His righteousness by being generous with our time, resources, and gifts that He has given to us. God tends to our needs as a good Father and knows all of our needs before we even tell Him.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 1st. Mass times with distribution of ashes will be at 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence. Stations of the Cross will be held each Friday during Lent at 5:30 p.m. Come experience this beautiful Catholic devotion commemorating our Savior’s last day on this earth as a man. Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered every Monday evening during Lent at 7:00 p.m. (concluding when all are heard). Confessions will be heard Mon-day of Holy Week also.
LENTEN REGULATIONS Ash Wednesday and Good Friday (April 14) are days of abstinence for all Catholics over the age of 14. On these two days, fast, as well as abstinence, is also obligatory for those from the ages of 18-59. Abstinence means refraining from meat. Fast means one full meal a day, with two smaller meals and nothing between meals (liquids are permitted). No Catholic will lightly excuse himself or herself from this obligation. All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence from meat. Again, Catholics will not hold themselves lightly ex-cused, but if there is a serious health problem, this obligation would not apply. We should strive to make all days of Lent a time of prayer and penance.

Please join us during this reflective period where we contemplate our own lives as we journey towards the expectation of Easter Resur-rection.
CHURCH IN CENTRAL EUROPE
Your support of this collection pro-vides a strengthening of the life of the Church for those who live in Central and Eastern Europe since the fall of communism in 1989. The Catholic Church has the freedom to worship openly, but much of the infrastructure is gone. Please be generous!
BLACK and INDIAN MISSION March 5th our parish will take up this collection for the support of the church in African American, Native American, and Alaska Na-tive communities from coast to coast. Schools, parish religious education programs, and diocesan ministries depend on your generos-ity to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your support!
EVANGELIZATION Share Great Resources with Others
You do not need to have the answers to every single question about Catholicism to be a powerful and in-spiring evangelist. However, you do need to think about how you act and what you say in interactions with people who struggled with faith and Catholicism. If we don’t have the answer to a question, it is ok. We must say that we do not have an answer instead of pro-
viding a dreadfully insufficient answer. There are plenty of resources with answers to the questions posed to Catholicism for the last 2,000 years. Become familiar with the following works: Search and Rescue and Envoy for Christ by Patrick Madrid, or Rome Sweet Rome, by Scott Hahn.
