President Marissa Nicastro Chief Editor Maddie Jacobs Assistant Editor Rachel Sterling National Wear Red Day : FRIDAY FEBRUARY 3 rd !!! By: Alissa Noeska Why wear red on Friday, February 3 rd ? To help show your support for education and awareness for women to help prevent heart disease. In the United States, cardiovascular disease kills one woman every 80 seconds and 1 in 3 women die from heart disease and stroke, but 80% of these killer cardiac events can be prevented with education that can lead to lifestyle changes. The Go Red For Women movement is all about women getting educated about their heart health. The foundation believes women being educated about five simple numbers can make a huge difference and save lives: Five numbers, that all women should know to take control of their heart health are: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). If you would like to learn more, donate, or fundraise to help support cardiovascular research and education, please take a look at the American Heart Association’s website. http://honor.americanheart.org/site/TR?fr_id=5042&pg=entry https://www.goredforwomen.org/fight-heart-disease-women-go-red-women-official-site/get- involved/national-wear-red-day/ February Events February 13 th : Lifestyle Enhancement Program: Noon Yoga – 12pm February 13 th : College Mentor for Kids – Day in the Life of a Nursing Student @ 4pm.
