-Baden-Powell

Hello Wolf Families!

We’ve made it over the hurtle of January

into February!

January is especially hard for us trying to

get back into the rhythm of things after

such a long winter break, but once again we

are running like a well oiled machine!

I was looking at the calendar the other day

and was shocked that the school year scout-

ing season is almost over, and soon all my

scouts will be entering the Bear Den! I am

truly excited to see what next year has in

store for these wonderful boys.

Well, we have a lot to go over in this

months news letter, and please always re-

member that if you have any suggestions,

thoughts and concerns, feel free to call me

or email me. I am always open to ideas and

help, because together we make this den

great for the boys.

Happy Early Valentines Day!

Scout Sunday!

Do not forget that on 3 February 2013 is Scout Sunday! On this day we would like Scouts to

attend their families church wearing their Class A Uniform, or their Pack T-shirt if they do not

yet have their Class A’s. To find out more information about Scout Sunday visit the BSA

Website at: http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Media/Relationships/ascoutisrevernt.aspx

What Cha Doin?

“The real way to gain happiness is to give

it to others.” Baden-Powell

We have been pretty busy in our

den lately. At our first meeting

back from leave we learned how

to tie a tie with the help of Mr.

Art, (Christopher P. Dad). The

boys caught on real quickly, and

soon were pretty much tying

them like professionals. We also

learned how to play marbles, and

the different ways and rules that

the game has.

Also not too long ago the boys

decorated some wooden picture

frames by carving a story from

Native Ameri-

can symbols

around the

edges. I then

took them

home and

stained them.

That was the

same day I

asked them to

wear their

uniforms to the

meeting, and I

had taken indi-

vidual photos

of them to put in their frames.

Where are these wonderful pic-

tures and frames you ask? Well

the frames are all ready to go

waiting in my garage, the photos

on the other hand did not turn

out well. I did not bring my soft

box lights to the meeting, and

the lighting just

looked horrible in

the photos, and

when it comes to

my photography, I

do not like send-

ing out bad look-

ing photos. So I

am holding on the

picture frames for

after day lights

savings time

(March 3) where

when we come to

meetings we will

still have some light outside.

The picture above is an example

of the photo I will do for the

boys. ( My son Brandon as a

Tiger)

Parents, I am trying to plan a fishing trip for us on

10 February in the morning hours probably around 1400 at the lake in the Wild Life

Refuge here in Lawton.

Going fishing will satisfy some arrow electives for us and it will help working towards

our World Conservation Award.

(Info about this award can be found on page 226 in the back of your Scouts Wolf book)

On this day, you can bring the whole family if you would like, or just you and your

scout, its up to you, but we will need all hands on deck to ensure the safety of our

boys. My husband, Brandon Mims, will be helping me out that day since where we

are fishing at, him and Junior fish often. At this lake they have caught a lot of Perch,

some big enough to fillet, but most are too small and we throw them back. If just

your Scout is fishing, no license is needed, just bring some bate and your pole and

supplies and meet us out there, but if you plan to fish as well, please remember you

need your fishing license! This can be purchased at Wal-Mart for $42.00

For more info on Oklahoma hunting and fishing licenses please visit:

http://www.shopoklahoma.com/fishingl.htm

Remember! I am

just in the plan-

ning stages of this

and will have con-

crete plans out to

you via email

“Loyalty is a feature in a boy’s character that

Inspires boundless hope.”

“Baden-Powell

Blue and Gold is on 9 February at

the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Tickets must be purchased by and

at the 4 February meeting. The

theme of the evening is, “Its show

time”. (If I remember correctly).

Its kind of like a red carpet, night

at the Oscars theme.

There will be a cake competition,

so if you and your creative scout

want to bake and decorate a cake,

go for it! Advancement awards

will also be given out that evening.

If your asking yourself why we are

having such a big to do, the reason

is because not only do we want to

celebrate the wonderful achieve-

ments of the boys but also this date

celebrates the Boy Scout of Ameri-

ca Birthday!

Purchase Blue and

Gold tickets at our

next Den meeting on

4 February!!!!

The cake I made for the 2012 B&G celebration for Pack 96, Baumholder Germany.

I have been approached quiet a bit lately about belt loops and pins and what are the re-

quirements for each, and how many are there. Well, there are a lot. =) and any scout can

earn them at anytime. Kiddos who have played football and basketball this past season

have more than likely earned those belt loops!

A list of belt loops and Pin requirements can be found at :

http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/CubScouts/CubScouts/UniformsAndAwards/

sanda.aspx

If your scout has completed the requirements and has earned loops and pins, please write

all the information down for me, including dates earned, and I will be sure to pass the

information along to our advancement chair.

* Loops and pins for archery and BB-gun shooting can be earned only in day camps, Cub

Scout/Webelos Scout resident camps, council-managed family camping programs, or at council activi-

ties where there is properly trained supervision, and all guidelines for BSA shooting sports are imple-

mented. Archery and BB-gun shooting belt loops and pins cannot be earned at the pack, den, or indi-

vidual level. Requirements therefore are not included.
