Recent cases of damage to Refrigerators in“Government quarters have occurred, due to thedeep freeze compartment being punctured with asharp instrument, used either to chip off the icewhen defrosting or to release ice trays which havebecome frozen to the deep freeze compartment.This damage is not repairable and a replacement isrequired which can cost up to £52.

2. The types of refrigerators involved are theG.E.C, D.E.82. the Electrolux SA. 80A and theKelvinator, and the following notice is affixed to theside of such refrigerators :-—

The aluminium deep freeze compartment onthis refrigerator is of very thin sheet metal.Care must be taken not to puncture the alumi-nium skin with any sharp instrument. Defrostingmust not be carried out by chipping with anysharp instrument.

Applications are invited from suitably qualifiedcandidates to fill vacancies for Assistant FilmProduction Officers in the Federal Ministry ofInformation, Information Division, Film Unit,

Scale of salary-C(T) Training, 1, 2—£330-396, .£468-£642-£684-£855.

QualificationsTheminimum educational qualifi-cation is the Higher School, Certificate with threéPrincipal passes on one occasion or four Principalpasses on two occasions or its equivalent. Candi-dates should also possess a knowledge of two or moreNigerian languages, experience in still photography,magnetic tape recording and an interest'in the arts.

DutiesTo assist generally in all aspects of theproduction of films. A course of training will beprovided covering camera work, film editing, soundrecording,script-writing and directing, andsuccessfulapplicants will later specialise in the roles for whichthey show particular aptitude. .

Method of application—Applications should beaddressed to the Director of Information Division,Ministry of Information, Broad Street Building,Lagos, so as to reach him not later than 4th May,1961. B,—Senior Lecturer Grade I or II in Physics.

C.—Senior Lecturer Grade II or Lecturer inMathematics. :

D.—Lecturer in Geography.

Senior Lecturer Grade I1—£1,440-—£1,824Lecturer-—£792-£1,760.

in addition an inducement addition ranging from£180 to £300 can be offered for expatriate officer.Entry point in the Salary Scale according to

qualifications and experience. Tours of duty from10 to 18 months.

Passage allowances, leave and other privileges aresubject to the regulations for the time being of theFederal Government of Nigeria. Partly furnishedquarters are available at a rental of one-twelfth ofbasic salary. oo,

Scale of salary-—C (E) 1, 2—£450, £468, £489,£510, £537, £564, £594, £621. £648, £675, £702,£786, £822.

Qualifications.—Applicants should not be morethan 30 years of age and preferably under and shouldhave either : -

(a) a University Intermediate degree’; or(®) the General Certificate of Education with

three passes at Advanced Level on oné occasion orfour passes at Advanced Level on two occasions;or

(c) the Higher School Certificate! with threeprincipal passes onone occasion or four principalpasses on two occasions.,Applications. will be accepted from candidates |

without such educational qualifications if they havehad a full secondary education and notless than fiveyears commercial experience, of which not less thanone year should have been at managerial level, ,Duties—To assist senior officers of the Trade

Division of the Federal Ministry of Commerce andIndustry in carrying out duties in connection withimport .and ‘export control, trade intelligence andinvestigations, the advisory service to traders, andother matters affecting commerce and trade. Officermay be posted to one of the branch offices in theRegions for long or short periods and may then berequired to tour extensively.

Otherconditionsofservice-—The postispensionablebut confirmation of appointment would be dependenton satisfactory completion of a period of probation.
