As in other scientific areas simulation techniques play an important role in the design and evaluation of communication networks and systems. Often their complexity and size or sim-ple economic reasons prevent studying them in reality. Thus many tools and programming class libraries exist for simulation purposes in the range of communication networks. The event was attended by the students from all over Karachi and also by the faculty mem-bers of UIT, Karachi. The main objective of this workshop was to teach the participants basic simulation techniques in the field of Communication Systems. The workshop also empha-sized to have the basic understanding of the theoretical concepts of communication sys-tems. The tool that was used for simulation is MATLAB and Simulink.

To provide alternate choices for prospering careers and futures for youth has always been a tre-mendous option in order to make better diversions so that they may select proper and suit-able choices to carve their fu-ture paths. In the series of it, Bachelors, Masters and PhD Scholarships (BMPS) in collabo-ration with Mehran UET success-fully arranged a seminar “Boom Your Career” for Mehranians of CS,ES, SW, BM and PG depart-ment, held in Computer Systems Dept and Electronics Dept, MUET, Jamshoro under the su-pervision of Prof. Dr. B. S. Chowdhry (DEAN - FEECE), Prof. Dr. M. A. Unar (Chairman, Com-puter Systems Dept, MUET ) , Dr. Wajiha Shah (Electronics Dept, MUET) and other respected per-sonnel. The aims of this seminar were:

To aware students about their final year projects with comparison and relevance to world wide development in science and technology

To aware them how to map and achieve good and fully funded scholarships present-ed by developed countries on merit basis

To motivate students to be a part of world leading engi-neering councils and pro-grams to shape their skills in good way to get closer to

international engineering community

To make them sure how they can enhance their inner potential to have influential presentation, motivation and interpersonal skills

To guide them how they may commence their re-search work during their under graduation period to participate in International conferences.

Also to provide a proper platform to have career counseling session for the students.

We have received a tremendous response from students and reg-istered 70+ students for this seminar in just few days. It has made us believe that such activi-ties to prosper the careers of students are well- appreciated not only by the Heads of Depart-ments but also by the students that is why there are upcoming other plans and events to be organized in next semesters. The speaker for this seminar, “Engr. M.Bilal Shaikh”, who is the grad-uate of MUET, (nowadays pursu-ing research), presented his thoughts about agenda of semi-nar and made participants aware about upcoming challeng-es and literate them how to cop with them.

Overall, it was a good experi-ence with sheer learning related to motivation, scholarship op-portunities, research paper writing, career counseling and skill development. With the be-lief that such events will be shared with all departments and all Mehranians in upcoming se-mesters, we will be able to achieve the milestone of eradi-cating the differences between a Pakistani and International Engi-neer. We are pleased to thank Prof. Dr. B. S. Chowdhry (DEAN - FEECE), Prof. Dr. M. A. Unar (Chairman, Computer Systems Dept, MUET ) , Dr. Wajiha Shah (Advisor, Electronics Dept, MUET) and whole team of BMPS for contributing and mak-ing these events possible for students in MUET. We expect that their efforts and opinions will make us able to contribute more in upcoming events or seminars in MUET.

What Success actually is in my point of view…?

Muhammad Awais Memon (09-ES-123)

When the word success comes in our mind we think to having comfort in our life is a success, but actually it is not!!! To me success is about to have satisfaction by our activities… How?? Whatever we earned or what we did is makes us satisfy or not? If not then try to satisfy ourselves or try to com-promise on it… Many people say to look on past is time wasting, because we cant change it…I partially don’t agree with them…Because I think to looking past is can make corrections in our present which cause better results in future… We see many peoples in our daily life compro-mising with their dreams for having success… But what if we plot our success graph with re-spect to our dreams… I’ve quoted an example of one of the successful mans in this century…. Steve Jobs plotted seven rules for achieving suc-cess with respect to his dreams…let see what they are! Do what you love. Jobs once said, "People with passion can change the world for the better." he said, "I'd get a job as a busboy or something until I figured out what I was really passionate about." That's how much it meant to him. Pas-sion is everything. Put a dent in the universe. Jobs believed in the power of vision. Put a dent in a universe means that you have to have a big, bold, clear, concise vision. I like to say that your vision should -- fit in a Twitter post," Consultant Carmine Gallo says. Gallo referred to John F. Kennedy's "man on the moon" declaration: "We will put a man on the moon and return him safely to Earth by the end

of the decade." "John Kennedy, in 1961, had a clear, concise vi-sion. If Twitter had existed that day, he could have tweeted it," he says. 3. Make connections,’ Kick start your Brain’ by doing something new: Doing new things helped Jobs, in the word's of Apple's own slogan, "think differently." Jobs once said crea-tivity is connecting things. He meant that people with a broad set of life experiences can often see things that others miss. He took calligraphy classes that didn't have any practical use in his life -- until he built the Macintosh. Jobs traveled to India and Asia. He studied design and hospi-tality. Don't live in a bubble. Connect ideas from different fields.

Steve Jobs

FEECE -MUET ENEWSLETTER P AGE 9

4. Say no to 1,000 things. When jobs re-

turned in Apple in 1997, he took a compa-

ny with 350 products and reduced them to

10 products in a two-year period. Why? So

he could put the "A-Team" on each prod-

uct.

Simplicity also extended to Jobs' personal style,

says Robert Cringely, who worked with Jobs since

1977.

"In later years, he decided he would wear the

same outfit every day, so that he, you know, didn't

have to think about it, no one had to think about

it, there were no decisions," Cringley says.

5. Create insanely different experienc-

es. Jobs also sought innovation in the cus-

tomer-service experience. When he first

came up with the concept for the Apple

Stores, he said they would be different

because instead of just moving boxes, the

stores would enrich lives. For Jobs, it was-

n't just about selling 29 million iPads this

summer but entertaining the customer at

the same time

6. Master the message. You can have the

greatest idea in the world, but if you can't

communicate your Ideas, it doesn't

matter.Consultant Carmine Gallo says Jobs

wasn't born a naturally gifted presenter --

he was visibly nervous during his first live

television interview in the 1970s -- but he

improved over time.

"In 2007, he actually gave what I consider the

greatest presentation I've ever seen -- the intro-

duction of the iPhone," he says.Others can learn

from Jobs' secrets, Gallo says. Consider, he says,

asking yourself what Jobs might do in a given

situation."When you start asking yourself what

Steve would do, it's a high bar to reach," he says.

"But it's worth reaching."Jobs was the world's

greatest corporate storyteller. Instead of simply

delivering a presentation like most people do, he

informed, he educated, he inspired and he en-

tertained, all in one presentation.

7. Sell dreams, not products. Jobs captured

our imagination because he really under-

stood his customer. He knew that tablets

would not capture our imaginations if they

were too complicated. The result? One

button on the front of an iPad. It's so sim-

ple, a 2-year-old can use it. Your custom-

ers don't care about your product. They

care about themselves, their hopes, their

ambitions. Jobs taught us that if you help

your customers reach their dreams, you'll

win them over.

Message: What I got from jobs rules and secrets of

success story, that jobs was a common man as we

are, he had dreams as we have but the difference

is he worked to make his dreams comes true and

we compromise with our dreams.

Pakistan has a bulk of talent, but we usually spend

our time to think ,”Is it Possible?” and sometimes

we get answer “no its not…” we don’t start work-

ing we only start thinking…Don’t think for possibil-

ity start working on what you want ,Result is in the

Hand of Allah, Being a Muslim I believe it… In Last: Start thinking on whatever you want to do, not to what people expect from you… References:

Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience" Robert
