FELLOWSHIPMEDIA PARTNEROPPORTUNITIES
2019
The Fellowship for British Hairdressing was founded in
1946 as the Fellowship of Hair Artists of Great Britain.
During the early years The Fellowship focussed on
hairdressing competitions and social events.
The 90’s saw the launch of F.A.M.E. (Fellowship Academy
of Merit and Excellence) established to promote a new
generation of British hairdressing and the F.A.M.E. Team
has now arguably become renowned as the premium
artistic team in British hairdressing with a global reputation
for creating the shining lights of the next generation of
industry greats.
In recent times The Fellowship has grown in stature and
now covers many areas of the professional hairdressing
industry but our main focus remains on promoting artistic
and creative quality via shows, seminars, education, best
practice and trends.
The Fellowship is unique; including the majority of top
stylists and salons and every major professional product
manufacture in the UK and beyond amongst its
membership. We currently have over 650 members with
a nationwide salon base of over 1000 premises, and
everyone working within each one of these premium
hairdressing salons and business can take full advantage
of our activities.
The Fellowship:Representing the UK’s finest
The Fellowship recognises, mentors, nurtures and
encourages young talent and the future hairdressing
generation through its ClubStar membership and
ClubStar Art Team, and its Project X and Colour Project
mentoring programmes.
The Fellowship also runs two scholarship programmes:
the legacy of two industry greats; Past Patron Vidal
Sassoon OBE and Past Chairman Christofer Mann.
The Sassoon Scholarship has become an annual
opportunity for members, or indeed someone from their
team, of undertaking four, one week Sassoon courses in
the name of the late Vidal Sassoon CBE with the added
benefit of a PR profile. Financial assistance is also
available to enable all members to take advantage of this
opportunity.
The Christofer Mann Step UP and SHINE Scholarship is
also run annually, in conjunction with the National
Hairdressers’ Federation to offer one lucky UK hairdresser
an exciting bespoke education package in the name of
industry legend and past Fellowship Chairman and
President Christofer Mann.
The Fellowship is unique;including the majority oftop stylists and salons andevery major professionalproduct manufacture in theUK and beyond amongstits membership.
Directed by the bestfor the best
The Fellowship is directed exclusively by members for
members and is run by a team of staff at its Head Office.
The Fellowship Council is a group of Fellowship members
who are elected by Fellow members at the annual general
meeting and using our rule book, which has been
developed over the years, provides the ultimate authority
on all matters. The Council members (including the
President, Vice-President, Chairman, Vice-Chairman,
Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and members of various sub-
committees all work in these areas unpaid.
We encourage strategic interaction with other leading
industry organisations, associations and bodies to further
our aims and objectives.
Constantlyinnovating
The Fellowship F.A.M.E. Teamwas the first, and we
believe, remains the very best opportunity for young
hairdressers looking to raise their profile within the
industry.
Project X has become a fully established and highly
valued Fellowship initiative, often described as THE
ultimate finishing school for hairdressers.
The Colour Project devised along similar lines as the
successful Project X was specifically designed to draw on
the vast experience within our membership and our
unique stance within the industry gives us the freedom to
fully explore colour and technical education.
We are on the cusp of adding another string to our bow,
with the Barber Project set to launch in January 2019
proving our members’ an inspirational journey from men’s
hairdressing through to barbering so they can take full
advantage of the demand from their clients.
For our young members, ClubStar has become well
established with its own exciting artistic team, a clear
demonstration of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s
continuing commitment to supporting future talent.
Our motto “Creative Excellence” was declared in 2012 as a
fitting and appropriate representations of our membership
and we’ve recognised the fundamental changes which are
happening without industry. We’re fully committed to
supporting all stylists and salons.
