Hand sew shut then embroider some white “bumps” to mimic a

cucumber. See pictures

sew husk together.

See below tutorial on how I made the lettuce.

These instructions are not too in depth but you should be able to follow the instructions written on the templates and reference the pictures for colors, etc. For veggie tops – cut desired shapes and hand stitch onto

veggies. I don't have patterns but below I tried to describe how I did the tops.

Tops:Tomato – I cut one piece out of dark green felt with different size of points and hand stitched onto tomato top with a white running stitch.

Squash – I cut a rectangle and then made some fat points on one edge, handstitched onto squash and then gathered the top of the green part and sewed shut at the top of the squash.

Carrot – Cut one long rectangle. Folded over in fourths and stitched together. Then I cut slits into the rectangle and inserted into open carrot top. Then I sewed the carrot shut while also attaching the top.

Cut long rectangle Fold and stitch end Cut down the middle

Eggplant - I just cut a circle with scalloped edges and hand sewed onto eggplant top. I did cut a little slit into the middle of circle and attached a little loop to make it look like a stem before I sewed on top.

Finishes: ● Use orange embroidery floss to sew some little notches into your carrot when finished.● Sew some little dimples into your potato.● For your garlic, sew some big loops, making sure to fashion them so they are secure, then cut the loops to

create a little beard. Some of mine came loose but I pulled out any loosies.● Sew some white bumps onto your cucumber.● You can sew a grid onto your corn ear before sewing together to create the illusion of kernels. I did not do this.

Here are some extra pictures to help you with the harder veggies – corn and lettuce.

Pin your husks around your corn before you sew the ends together. This will help make sure your corn husk fits snuggly around the removable ear or corn.

This shows how I pinched the ends together. I sewed one straight seam along the end to finish the husk. Then I turned it right side

out. Remember, all of your seams should be on the inside.

I used a ball I thought was about the size I wanted the lettuce. Then I traced a design on my felt.

I then cut out the shape I traced and re-pinned together, then sewed them back together with my machine. This creates the raised edge on the top of the lettuce and begins to create the rounded lettuce shape.

Next, keep you seams on the outside of your lettuce ball and start to sew shut with a gathering stitch, trying to form a ball as you sew. As you pull the thread tight a ball with start to form.

Stuff your ball and pull tighter and the thread until your desired shape is ready for you to tie off your thread.

Sew your leaves together and then add a dark green circle on the bottom of the leaves to finish the bottom of the lettuce head.

Then place your lettuce ball into the leaves and sew your two pieces together. I cupped my leaves up the side of the lettuce ball and sewed a big circle with a loose gathering stitch about 1-2” from the base of the leaves.

Tomato: Cut the 4 pieces then pin two edges together, sew the seam, and then repeat until all four pieces are sewn together. Pinch the bottom, sew a straight line to close, and then turn right side out and stuff. You will sew on the green top to close and finish the tomato.

Garlic: You can use the tomato pattern for the garlic. Just make it a little smaller and after turning, sew the top shut with a straight seam and add a little string beard. Have fun!!!
