FEMALE FAT LOSS OVER 40 How do you feel about dragging those extra pounds around? Are you motivated enough to take action? If losing that extra weight was easy, then everyone would have the body of their dreams. You’re going to have to make some extra effort with your nutritional plan in order to see those extra pounds fall off to reveal your beautifully developed muscles underneath.
Remember: You cannot out train poor nutrition. So if you’re planning on doing the workouts that go with this program, be sure to follow up with supportive eating.
In short, to achieve something that you’ve never done before, you have to do something that you’ve never done before. You’ll have to stick to the plan that is laid out in the program. Understanding the reasons why you should be eating certain foods and avoiding others is very helpful in motivating you to ‘stay the course’.
For the last two decades or more we’ve been told that a diet high in carbohydrates and low in fat is the best way to eat for health and a slim waistline. But the truth is that fat is where the flavor is, so in an effort to add flavor to products that had the fat artificially reduced, manufacturers added sugar. But far worse than sugar, they added artificial sweeteners in the form (most commonly) of phenylalanine. Along with this increase of processed sugar products to practically every packaged food, the western world has seen an unprecedented leap in obesity, Type 2 diabetes, food intolerances, depression, skin disorders, cancers and other diseases that were hardly known 50 years ago.
Our modern diet comprises staggeringly high amounts of sugar, trans-‐fats, overly processed foods and shockingly low levels of nutritious, fibre rich whole foods.

A paleo-‐style diet is a return to the diet of our forebears with a focus on lean proteins, and a diet full of nutrient rich fruits and veggies. The health benefits of a paleo-‐style diet include:
• Increased energy • Stable blood sugar • Reduced body fat • Reduced allergies • Clearer, healthier skin • Anti-‐inflammatory • Improved sleep • More efficient workouts
With a very simple adjustment we remove foods that are at odds with our health including grains, dairy and legumes.
Once we return to whole foods we see a dramatic drop in sugar and sodium intakes with all the health and weight loss benefits that come along with eating natural foods. Cravings will be a thing of the past and you’ll find your tastebuds actually look forward to real foods.
You will be provided with a mix and match meal plan that you will use for 21 days.
This program tells you when and basically what to eat. We prefer to allow some choice in the menu, as this is more applicable to real life. For now, you’ll choose between 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, 7 dinners and 7 snacks. It’s not practical to live your life carrying around a piece of paper with your prescribed foods/meals on it day in and day out.
This is an educational process. You’re expected to PAY ATTENTION to what you’re eating, HOW YOU FEEL eating it and how your body reacts to it.

Practise mindfulness in your eating. Try and avoid technology while you eat, for at least these 21 days. How often have you watched TV while eating and looked down in surprise to find you’ve cleared your plate and don’t even remember doing so? Eat slowly, put your knife and fork down in between bites; try and stop eating when you’re 80% full; listen to the cues your body gives you and you’re on your way to permanent changes in managing your nutrition.
The simplest mantra you can adopt in your mindful eating plan is “Never starved, never stuffed”. Don’t leave it too long in between eating so that you fall on your food in ravenous hunger – and neither leave the table so full you can’t move.
A recent study in the International Journal of Obesity showed that people that had lost the most weight in the early stages of their diet maintained their weight loss far better 2-‐5 years later. In simple terms, it’s motivating to get rapid fat loss!
You’ll want to be drinking plenty of water on this meal plan so if you’re not used to drinking water, now is the time to start. You should be aiming for at least 6-‐8 glasses a day. Soft drink, caffeinated beverages and iced tea are not water and are not interchangeable. Your goal is to give your body a break from sugary drinks and chemically processed beverages. Drink water, green or herbal teas and exclude alcohol for these 21 days.
To keep your motivation high and provide a psychological break in the week, we encourage you to indulge in a “treat meal” once every 7 days. It’s not a cheat-‐day or a binge session – plan it carefully to make sure you enjoy it – have your favourite foods, enjoy them guilt free and get straight back to the program at your next meal.

FEMALE FAT LOSS OVER 40 The reasons for this cheat meal are:
• It provides a mental break from measuring foods. • It gives you something to look forward to so that adherence to the
program is easier for the rest of the week. • It helps to keep leptin levels high so that the metabolism doesn’t fall off.
It can take about a week of severe dieting to lower leptin levels (thus lowering metabolism), but it only takes one meal of higher calorie eating for leptin levels to recover to baseline levels. (Leptin is a hormone that goes to the satiety center of the brain to make you feel full and satisfied.)
If you can’t stick to the exact plan there are some basic principles you need to be aware of. There are three meals with one snack (ideally this snack will be an afternoon one) spaced out throughout the day, your source of carbohydrates will come from quality veggies and fruits.
Planning is required to ensure that meals are balanced. There are no empty calories, that is every food item packs a nutritional punch. There is a higher protein ratio. Protein helps stabilize blood sugar and reduces cravings.
Now this is a fairly strict regime, but if you are serious about looking your best in 21 days, if you follow it to the letter, then you’ll not be disappointed. Remember to put all your energy into the short video workouts and high intensity interval workouts for maximum results.
Experts say that it takes 21 days to develop a habit. It is my hope that over the course of the next 21 days, that you will begin to change your eating habits so that even after your 21 Day Rapid Fat Loss program, you will continue to re-‐composition your body, slowly losing fat and replacing it with muscle. This is just the start of a lifestyle change that will see to it that your health and wellness improves as well as how you look in your jeans.
