SECTION V - HEALTH HAZARD DATA
GENERAL
The primary toxicity of this material would be expected to
be associated with the nuisance dust characteristics of the
chemical mixture. Neither of the two chemical components of the
product are listed by any of the primary regulatory or research
agencies precursors (i.e., styrene and acrylic acid) of the
styrene acrylic resin are recognized to be toxic, there are no
data in the open scientific literature which indicate a toxicity
associated with this resin, itself. This absence of toxicity is
consistent with a general absence of recognized toxicity
associated with polymers of these monomeric precursors. A review
by the IARC of related polymers of these two monomers was
uniformally negative. Hence, the primary toxicologic
considerations for the toner material are associated with the
nuisance dust properties of airborne inhalation.
EMERGENCY/FIRST AID PROCEDURES
Eye Exposure
Flush eyes immediately with large amounts of water, lifting
the upper and lower lids occasionally. If irritation is present
after washing, seek medical attention.
Skin exposure
If material gets on skin, promply wash contaminated skin
using soap or mild detergent and water. If irritation persists
after washing, get medical attention.
Inhalation
If a person breathes in large amounts of material, move the
exposed person to fresh air at once. If breathing has stopped,
perform artificial respiration. Keep the affected person warm
and at rest. Get medical attention as soon as possible. Inform
the treating physician of the information contained in this
material safety data sheet.
Ingestion
When material has been swallowed, get medical attention
immediately. As above, inform the treating physician of the
information contained in this material safety data sheet.
