Shakeh Tchilingirian has a huge repertoire of Armenian folk and lyrical dances andteaches with great awareness of the sacred dimension of the dances. Laura Shannon has travelled widely to research Greek, Balkan and Roma traditional dances in theiroriginal settings. Her teaching offers a deep experience of the meditative power, sacred symbols and healing energy thesedances contain. Kostantis Kourmadias and Nikolas Angelopoulos will accompany Laura’s classes with exquisite and sensitive live music. Peter Vallance shares traditional and choreographed Celtic Dances that
journey through the Wheel of the Year. The Festival Choir with Sheila Pettitt and Orchestra with Maya Buckley provide music for the final night’s community dance and celebration. Dance to live music with the Indian Bhajan band and Peter Vallance, Greek and Balkan with Laura, Kostantis and Nikolas, Ceilidh with Peter, Rory and Tom. Barbara Swetina shares ritual dances as tools for peace building, with simple movements from many spiritual traditions, to live music. Armenian dance with Shakeh will be accompanied by Tigran Aleksanyan and Ara Petrosyan playing duduk and dehol.
