Few very useful tips for your first job
interview
1. Job interviews are a lot like first dates. You really want one and
you're thrilled when you get one. But then you start worrying about
every little detail, like what to wear, what to say, how to notact like
an idiot. Job interviews can be nerve-wracking experiences. But just
like first dates, they can also be wonderful opportunities. If you are
well prepared, confident, and do everything right, you'll make a
winning impression and obtain your goal. So be prepared because
"Failing to prepare is preparing to fail."
2. Before you begin to think about how you will dress for the interview,
or answer questions, you should do your homework. Gather as much
information about the employer as you can. Not only will you appear
informed and intelligent, it will also help you make a decision if the
employer eventually makes a job offer.
3. When you walk in the room the very first impression you make on
the interviewer can have a great influence on the rest of the
interview. It is important that you introduce yourself, shake hands,
and be friendly.
4. There is no way to predict every question you will be asked during a
job interview. In other words, expect unexpected questions--they'll
come up no matter how much preparation you do.
5. Be prepared to ask questions. Almost all interviewers will ask if you
have any questions. You should have some ready and should have

at least one that is related to the conversation you have just
completed. This demonstrates that you are both prepared and
interested. Your questions should be related to details about the
company and should be based on the information you learned fromthe homework you have done.
6. Do not use any sample answers word for word! Interviewers can
spot "canned" answers a mile away, and if they suspect you are
regurgitating answers that are not your own, you can kiss that job
goodbye. You must apply your own experiences, personality and
style to answer the questions in your own way. This is crucial, and it
will give you a big advantage over candidates who simply recite
sample answers.
7. Factors that can cost you the interview/job:
7.1Not being able to communicate clearly and effectively.
This is important during the interview and on the job. Being
nervous can really mess up your communication skills, so being
well prepared and practicing what you're going to say are always
your best bet.
7.2Being aggressive, arrogant, or acting in a superior way.
No one wants to hire or work with people who think they're
better than everyone else. Be careful with your attitude, even if
you think you're surrounded by incompetent fools. Being
confident is good. Being an arrogant jerk is bad.
7.3Making excuses for failings. Your teacher never bought "The
dog ate my homework! and your interviewer isn't going to buy

"The teacher gave me the wrong answers!" In the grown-up
world, you have to take responsibility for what you are
responsible for! You'll never earn respect by blaming others
when things go wrong.
8. Make eye contact with your interviewer. Looking away gives the
impression of dishonesty or a lack of confidence. Be sure to thank
the interviewer for taking the time to meet with you.
9. Be honest, dont lie and tell the truth. If you are thinking about
telling a lie during the interview, ask yourself these questions (this
technique will definitely help you in making many major decisions):
"What is the best thing that could happen? What is the worst thing
that could happen? Is the best thing worth risking the worst thing?".
In this instance, the best thing would be getting the job. The worst
thing would be getting discovered as a liar, which could lead to
getting fired, which could lead to unemployment, which could lead
to more job searching, which could lead to another interview, which
could lead to the stress of deciding whether to lie about just getting
fired, and so on a cycle that can go on indefinitely. Is all that
worth getting the one job, perhaps on a temporary basis? Always
consider the consequences of your actions.
10.Finally remember that, Job interview questions are not things to
fear, they are opportunities to excel. They allow you to show why
you are the best person for the job, so instead of dreading them,
look forward to them! The key is to give better answers than anyone
else, and that's where your preparation comes in. So be prepared
and have a good luck.
