Chewing’s Fescue
ENCHANTMENT
Description: Enchantment chewings fescue tested as exp. PST-4CH6 is the latest release of chewing’s fescue out of the Pure-Seed Testing research program. Enchantment is a medium green variety with good overall tolerance to drought conditions. It also displays good tolerance to medium levels (16 oz./acre) of glyphosate applications. Enchant-ment was a top performer for resistance to melting out in turf quality ratings, for entries in a fine fescue turf trial located near Hubbard, OR. Enchantment has reduced vertical growth com-pared to other fine fescues during the grow-in period for reduced maintenance costs.
Applications: Enchantment chewings fescue is an excellent choice for use in areas where low maintenance and pleasing green color is desired. It is also a popular choice for slopes and banks for erosion control. Golf courses frequently use chewings fescues on roughs for that wavy, blowing in the breeze look when it’s left un-mowed. Enchant-ment is an excellent choice as a component for blending with perennial ryegrass, and Kentucky bluegrass for parks and home lawns.
Geographical Adaption: Enchantment is best adapted from the transi-tion zones to the cooler climates throughout the northern hemisphere. It can also be utilized as a component with perennial ryegrass for southern overseeding of dormant bermudagrass. Enchantment will establish and perform well when seeded at 2-4 lbs./1,000 sq. ft (170 kg./ha). for new installa-tions. Under normal conditions Enchantment should fully establish in 14-21 days. First mowing should occur at 2”-3” (5-7 cm.)
